Holy hell. I can only imagine what was racing through your head in that brief space between when you heard them on the speakers, wondering why the frick are the cops at my door at 2am, and then breaking in the door.

Was the call made through the app? I’ve heard of people using ghost phones to call in a swat, but never heard of it involving the app or ring. Did you catch the guy that did it?

It was made from a phone. The way it was explained to me by the FBI, is they bought our email address and password on the dark web (whatever tf that means) then got my name off of the Ring information and called the Sheriffs department with my information. They were also talking to the cops through the ring doorbell whenever they were at the door about to bust in.

I can’t find the original article but there was another guy with him doing it. I’m 99% certain this is them. The agents told me they were making the arrest but I never heard anything afterwards. FBI also said they did 11 houses in the USA during a two week span.

Back in the day we had beat cops who actually knew you and usually knew the score before they came to the house.
Since the first Gulf War we now have ex military and nobody seems to know each other any more.
Technology, and lack of local community seems not to be the right direction.

I like the Eufy doorbells…they are quite a bit more than the ring, though. I have the E349 and like it a lot. It has two cameras….one for the person and one for the package. It is on sale currently.
