NBC considers axing 10pm+ ET late night slots to save money - late night shows in danger?

Variety
NBC has forked over billions for college football and the NFL and evening/late night ratings have been on the decline.
Late night shows cost millions every week with all of the writers, camera men, staff, etc.
NBC may not see profit from sports for at least a couple of years so they need to cut costs.

NBC is considering handing over its 10 p.m. primetime programming hour to local stations, Variety has confirmed.
Insiders say that this conversation has happened multiple times over the past 10 years, and emphasize this is not the first time the option of ceding time to affiliates has been discussed at the broadcaster. Instead, this is just the most recent in ongoing explorations and it could lead to no changes at all.

NBC’s 2022-23 schedule — including 10 p.m. programming — is locked in, so the earliest such a move could happen would be fall 2023. Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that while NBC hasn’t made any formal proposal to affiliates yet, major station groups would be happy to have the 10 o’clock hour to program themselves, which could be filled with local news programming or syndicated fare.
NBC didn’t comment directly on the report but gave THR the following statement, which it also provided to the Wall Street Journal: “We are always looking at strategies to ensure that our broadcast business remains as strong as possible. As a company, our advantage lies in our ability to provide audiences with the content they love across broadcast, cable and streaming.”

Gutfeld is killing them
He’s hilarious, and Kat Timpf
But just think about the downgrade in late night - we went from Leno, Letterman, Conan, and my personal favorite Craig Ferguson to gigglemugs like Fallon/Corden and political hacks Kimmel/Colbert… Meyers has talent but is all eaten up with the TDS.

None of them are remotely funny across all networks. Colbert is the absolute worst by the way.

I remember when late night was good. Nobody was off limits.

There will also be no changes made for late-night programming, including “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and “Late Night With Seth Meyers,” which air at 11:35 p.m. and 12:35 p.m., respectively

Cuts in primetime would also likely mean earlier air times for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night With Seth Meyers and possibly Saturday Night Live, as well. The network’s late night shows currently kick off at 11:35 p.m. ET
Think This article is about 10 Eastern/9 Central

Ferguson deserved one of the late night spots - dude was hilarious.
I still watch his old shows.
Conman, Ferguson and even Leno and Letterman….so much better than the garbage out there today.

I'm asleep by then anyway these days.

I would love to see Seth Meyers get axed.

Good riddance. All the late shows could disappear and I wouldn't be heartbroken.
Carson was the best. Leno and Letterman were ok. Fallon is funny sometimes and not quite as woke as the others but I'm not staying up to watch him.

If variety hours were still a thing, Fallon would be a good host.

Surprise surprise. Obnoxious liberal propagandists performing for groups of clapping seals nightly. Of course they’re failing. Good riddance.

Nice summation.
Gutfeld is great.

I don't know, but I wish that.. What's her name? Samantha B or something? Sometimes I will put it on TBS just to listen to the Big Bang Theory (I like to have the noise) and that bitch has the most annoying commercials.
If she is a comedian, without seeing her in standup, I would slightly above Kathy Griffin. How the frick does she have a show?
