If his financial criteria met any of the settlement benchmark templates agreed to by the BP Lawyers, he was entitled to the amount that BP VOLUNTARILY agreed to owe him.
This. BP Agreed to criteria that way too many people in the gulf states met. BP should have never agreed to the criteria but they wanted to agree to anything to try and minimize PR risk at the time. They regretted it later but it was too late.

Obviously Mr. West did not file the claim himself
I get that. I'm more disappointed in the claim administer that anything else.

My guess is West had little idea and it was one of his lawyers, accountants, etc. that gave him the idea and they just ran with it.
They probably got it in very early, early on they were rubber stamping almost everything. Then word got out and everyone turned in claims and it was slowed down and controlled.

The claim administrator approved $1.4 million
So did West turn over bank records showing a loss of deposits totaling $1.4M?
I don't get how this could happen unless he's claiming some other business he owns that sustained actually losses.
Either this is straight up fraud or I am the biggest fricking idiot in the world for scraping by and doing the right thing in this world.

Second, the court examined West’s alleged unexpected loss. West received all the money to which he was contractually entitled. Consequently, West did not suffer a loss or damage; his front-loaded contract was the cause for his diminution in wages.
Does he not have to give a fricking reason or explanation as to how the spill resulted in lost wages?
This blows my fricking mind that our court systems are tied up with garbage like this. There definitely need to be penalties for ridiculous cases like this.
