I'm with you on your original post. Either go in there to kill them all or don't go in at all. The rand Paul way.

You're the comic. But you are not alone here. Clueless might be more appropriate. Ever served? SO experience?

It's a complete shite show over there. We shouldn't have been in Iraq in the first place but that's a discussion for another time. Obama created this new mess by going against all his military advisors advice and pulling out too soon. He's so hell bent on preserving his "legacy" that he's just doing the bare minimum and passing it on to the next President.

Anyway, read up on SF (read the Horse Soldiers) and the concept and I think you will find it enlightening.*
This is the book you're talking about right?

That is not the Warriors creed. If there is action a warrior goes toward the danger. Sheep dogs know no other way.

It would help if we didn't publicize what we are doing with our SF guys ahead of time

The bad guys already know we're there. As for the "why are we in an advisory role" question, that's a core function. More so for SF, but SEALs and MARSOC do it too. They're there to upgrade and stiffen the indigenous forces, who you hope will eventually be able to stand on their own. And when you do that, this is a risk you take.

Pulling out too soon? We're supposed to believe that just a few more months, or a few more years of occupation in Iraq would have led to a lasting peaceful bliss over there?

In the Middle East?

You have got to be the stupidest frick on the planet Beaver.

Obama pulled our troops out because they were being killed at a rate of around 850 per year times ten wounded and the occupation period after the surge was still seeing an average of 100 killed times ten wounded.

In the five years since the withdrawal we've had 15 total soldier deaths in five years, for an average of 3 per year.

But more muslim terrorists are being killed now than during the occupation years.

You don't just cut and run after a long war. You need to leave troops in until the country can stand on its own with its military. We were transitioning power back to the Iraqi military but left too soon. The Iraqis clearly weren't ready because they dropped their shite and ran when isis came through. It was never going to be peaceful but you wouldn't have a death cult taking over the country you frickin idiot.
