I wonder if they're seeing this. I'm sure they are.

It took them over an hour to go in AFTER being on site and hearing dozens of gun shots inside right? All because they were obeying orders? Someone fact check me.

These Nashville guys went at warp speed, under fire, and saved dozens of young children.

Pre-2014, if someone brought up a school shooting, everyone's mind would immediately go to Columbine, which happened in the 90's.

Now, if someone brought up a school shooting, there's like 5 or 6 you can choose from just in the last decade.

That's fricked up.

Active shooting at Hangout in Gulf Shores. All
I saw today were spring break families and softball teams. Should be interesting to find out details.

They were obviously terrified. Not making an excuse for them but it’s the only reasonable explanation.

Columbine was the first big shooting that drew attention nationwide, and I will always believe that it sparked the school shootings we have today.

I understand that, but out of all the officers that were there, you'd think that a handful would've faced their fear for the sake of vulnerable little children and taken action. I don't care if there is a fricking grizzly bear with a chainsaw, when there are kids in danger, and you are a cop, you fricking do something. Why the hell would you even get into such a profession if you are unable to go into the line of fire?

And yet we, as a society, seemed obsessed with pretending the whole problem is because of guns as though guns were only invented in the 1990s. It’s sickening. Even after all these school shootings we’re still playing politics with the issue instead of looking at the real problems causing the issue. That’s why these school shooting keep happening. It’s because our society would rather scream about guns instead of facing the hard truths that have lead to the phenomenon of school shootings. Sadly, all that’s going to happen is a lot more dead kids while the problem only gets worse.

I might be misremembering, but didn't the first officer on the scene actually watch him run into the building with a clear unobstructed shot in the parking lot?

And was told to wait for back up?

Some of them had their own kids in there. It’s pretty unfathomable.

I'm in my 40s and I can't remember any high school or below shootings before that. It certainly "feels" like the one that started it all. I'm sure most people feel that way.

So pre-meditated, so brutal, so much morbid intrigue (Nazi rumors, etc.), and in a pleasant no-where American town. I remember reading the Time Magazine article detailing their movements throughout the event. Cover to cover.

It got more coverage, yes, and it was the deadliest school shooting at the time, but it was not the first to get widespread media attention.

No other education or skills. A step above working retail or food service.
Figured they’d only work domestic disputes and dwi’s.

Yep and Stockton, CA in the late 80s. Jonesboro one was especially nuts for how young the shooters were. One shooter was 13 and the other 11
