Although it’s not a common name, the name “Purvis” has always struck me as an odd name. I mean, most names have a shortened version that people call them, but can you really call Purvis “Purv”??

Back in the 90’s, my buddy’s girlfriend had a mom who was named Gaye. Not a common name for a woman in her 40’s or 50’s at the time but certainly not unheard of.
She was divorced and getting remarried.
Problem was, the guy she was marrying had the last name Barr.
