Adaptive cruise control – Long road trips with the family, this is amazing.
I fricking hate this. The first time I rented a car with this I didn’t know what it was. I was driving down the highway behind this van and all of a sudden everyone was flying by me.
The damn thing dropped me 15 mph below the speed limit. It pissed me off and made me feel less in control of the experience. Now, I never use adaptive cruise.
Old man yells at clouds meme.
Eta
What do I love? Apple car play/a properly functioning equivalent.

HUD. I definitely thought it was some marketing bullshite, but it is great being able to see speed and map directions without taking your eyes off the lunatics on the road.
I can't turn mine off completely so I put a piece of tape on it. I hate it. So distracting.

Well if you moved around the van it'd speed up for you safety

I was moving furniture last night and it was 29 degrees outside. Hopping into the rental Silverado (which was a fairly low trim/spec) and putting my frozen hands on the heated steering wheel was incredible.

I hate the feeling of the computer having even more control over the car than it already does.

Something else to break, which has happened in my wife's vehicle and it was expensive to fix.
As cool as I think that feature is, I'm with you on that. Unfortunately that's the new reality with vehicles. I feel like even your most basic models have all the bells and whistles now.
My car is 10 years old, so it has very few of the features we're discussing, so my experience with these features only comes with driving other people's cars/rentals. They all seem nice when you don't have to deal with the maintenance

Wife has this and it's nice until my hands start sweating
Hers turns on automatically if the temperature is below a certain point outside, which kind of annoys me too.

- Remote start – I live in a place with true 4 seasons a year. Winter and Summer this is a gamechanger.
- Adaptive cruise control – Long road trips with the family, this is amazing.
- Apple Play – I know this is going away in a lot of vehicles, but it’s a great OS, for lack of a better word.
Absolutely agree. I'll add heated/cooled seats & 360* camera...

I only use it on road trips, can really zone out listening to a podcast or music. Not an everyday thing by any means.

The safety detection systems are great
I like the Android Auto functionality. I mainly just use it for navigation and streaming music or audiobooks

Backup camera, blind spot monitoring and Apple car play.
Not a big fan of adaptive cruise or collision mitigation.

Backup camera
The best answer, by far.

I have a BMW with laser headlights and European programming. This means they stay on bright, but turn off the area pointed toward another car. It really is cool to watch at night.
My second favorite is when the steering wheel shakes to warn you that you are drifting out of your lane. I turned it off in my vehicle, but left it on my wife's car.

[Adaptive cruise control] - my wife’s car has it and I hate it. Not sure what issue it solves or the benefit it provides.

Well if it hadn't slowed down you would have run into the back of the van so it did exactly what it is supposed to do.

That's why I roll my eyes when people make fun of me when I tell them I drive around an 06 Civic Si (granted, my second car, but still)
A pure driving experience as opposed to mere operation of a rolling app that we call driving today's modern cars.
