Saying an hour because I assume the further away the cheaper.

I know you are looking for super- gay- friendly, so I’d recommend College Station.

In 20 years, everything within an hour will be absorbed into Houston metro. Look toward Madisonville, Sealy, or Matagorda Bay.

Lake Conroe for lake living. Further out is Lake Livingston. Brookshire or far Tomball for country living. Bay living is obviously the Galveston area. Freeport is farther away but better looking.

The worst thing about Houston is, there’s really no nice different sort of locales within even a two hour drive, much less one.
