C'mon...

quote:

The Confederate flag will no longer be displayed in the Christmas Festival Parade, after the City requested that the Festival Committee ban its presence. A letter from Mayor Lee Posey to the Christmas Festival Committee, run by the Historic District Business Association (HDBA) states: “In the past several months there has been considerable discussion regarding the Confederate Flag and what it represents. For many, the flag represents a symbol of patriotism, faith and family. However, public comments have shown that many members of the general public find the flag offensive and the City believes these comments to be reasonable.

So step on one sides rights to appease another side?

Banning the Confederate flag from the Christmas Parade is not unreasonable, folks. We all know that it is offensive to many of our neighbors, so, why flaunt it in a Christmas Parade??

This part of La. is not even closely linked with the Confederacy. It's historical significance dates back to the American Revolutionary War days. They should have some Louisiana French and Spanish Colonial Militia reenactors in the parade not Civil War.

Nachitoches is known for being the oldest town in La. It dates back to the French and Spanish Empire colonial days.

It's not and never was some kind of Confederate Hub City with all kinds of important Civil War battles and events occurring there.

That is demonstrably false. The red river valley of LA was arguably the most fervently confederate region in the entire country. I'm not saying they should fly the flag, but at least be honest about the history man.

First Starbucks goes plain red for their Christmas cups and now we can't even enjoy a confederate flag in our Christmas parade.

What's next? Wieners on the glass at the Alano club?
