Planetary conquest makes for good scifi movie fodder but is pretty unrealistic.
If you are an interstellar capable species and you want to take planet earth, you just go take planet earth. You don't fly an army there to wage war and fight mano a mano, you use weapons of mass destruction. Do we kill individual ants one at a time or just throw some poison on the mound? If they need labor they can build self replicating robots, not human slaves. If humans are of any use to them it'd be as food, but I also expect a species with that level of tech to be able to poof food into existence like Star Trek.
