She has a credit card you don’t know about, a drug problem, a gambling problem or a boyfriend with one of those issues. Nobody is naive enough to fall for a warrant scam to the tune of $17,000, especially without consulting their spouse first.

Blows my mind how rational adults can believe such a thing without at least double checking one part of it. Add in the thick Indian accented dude named Randy Watson and sheesh wtf.

I would need a WHOLE lot of answers that made sense if my wife were stupid enough to fall for this ridiculous scam.

And from what you posted, she could not be able to supply them with enough believability to convince me she's not in this in some way.

I'm convinced there's more here than meets the eye and if you do get to the bottom of it, maybe it's time to move on from that situation.

Exact same thing happened to girlfriend. She's not an idiot so she didn't pay, but they said she could drive over to Sheriff's office and pay there. That's the angle I dont get - big balls to scam someone in the Sheriff's parking lot. They spoofed number, have correct address of the one closest to her house, etc.

sounds like your wife is probably very sweet and a little naive

I like that type of person and loathe those who take advantage of them.

Surely she will run big money decisions by you from now on.

People who have families, spouses, elderly parents, occasionally get important work related calls, etc. Unless it says probable spam, I answer. You never know what that call could be about.

Just so happens I was waiting on a call back from an electrician that morning.

Or you can just hang up. You do you. I’m not risking missing an emergency call.

Sure 17,000 may not be worth the effort but this isn't their first rodeo.

I'd go to the ends of the earth to find that 17k lol thankfully there is no way my wife could be scammed out of that because we don't have it to begin with.

Rest assured if we had that kind of money...she could be scammed. She once heard a deal on steaks on the radio. I tried to tell her it was bullshite...but she wouldn't listen. She drove to another county to buy 50 new York strip "steaks" out of a truck for $100 bucks. The "steaks" were about 1/4 inch thick lol

These bastards can call you and have the caller ID say “East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office.” They can even call you and the caller ID says it’s YOU calling. I’ve had both happen. You basically can’t trust any call, text, or email anymore.

Believe what you want but i actually got a call on my phone and the caller ID said it was me. Calling myself, from the phone that was in my own hand.

for the doubters out there, this is possible.

And extremely easy to do. I’ve written up posts on here before on how and why it works and why it won’t change anytime soon

"She now wants to sell some of her jewelry"

Good idea. While she's at it she can take over the yardwork for the next 5 summers.

I wouldn’t believe it if it hadn’t happened to me. The caller ID was from the local sheriff’s office. The guy had a local accent and spoke like a cop would. He knew my name, address, and social. What made me know it was a scam was when he said i needed to “post bond” and submit a handwriting sample of my signature at a “secure bond location.” When my signature checked out as legit mine, they would give me my “bond” back. I went to my “received” calls, called the number back, and the local sheriff’s dept answered. I told them about the call i got from their number and what happened. I figured someone in their building was running the scam and wanted to report it.

Also, within days i got an actual jury summons in the mail. Adds to my possible theory that it was a dirty local deputy.

They aren't scared of getting caught by law enforcement because they know they won't be tracked down
