re: My wife and I both work from home. Why won't she shut up?

I have an answer for you. As long as my wife is in a conscious state, she will be talking, she taught for many years which exacerbated the problem, teachers, especially elementary, are paid to talk all day, now the faucet cannot be stopped, or can it?
My wife doesn't understand the simplest technology, so I introduced her to books on tape years ago. We have moved from that to downloading free from the library. I showed her how to use a bluetooth headset.
Now she walks around all day, as silent as a ghost, listening to books, hell, if I want to talk to her I have to text or call her to get her attention.
Now your wife may not like books, but she will like music or something to keep her addled mind distracted and her mouth silent.

I don't know, but record and post video when you try.

It is unbelievable.
I recently figured out she has my number on silent for texts/calls so I don't interrupt her work day. As soon as I figured this out, she went on my do not disturb list. It's been glorious and she hasn't figured out how to bitch about it yet bc she did it to me first.
Anyone care to bet how long it will take for her to just get mad about it anyway?

I'm guessing shes a woman.........you're welcome.

Her "to do" list becomes mine and now my "to do" list is backed up. Thankfully at my job I get alot of time off during the week and she works strictly 9-5 and five days a week so MY time is returning soon. I keep a schedule when I am off: working out, walking dogs on a schedule, yard work, etc. Let's just say this has gone to shite the last 3 weeks. The day starts off "You want to go do ______?" after we just did something yesterday.

I have the opposite problem.

Headphones. Big, bulky headphones. Play some white or brown noise and just ignore her.

I dont know how many people know this about me, but I write and record music. I have a studio in my house and when I'm inspired, I need to either be on my own to think or with people who are working on the same exact thing with me.
Its almost inevitable, that when I'm most inspired and in the mood to play, record, mix, edit, set up, etc..that I will need to help with some random heavy chore or get a phone call from someone, etc.
First world problems..I really can't complain, but Ill find ways to do it anyways.

I shared this with my wife.
She said you are a fricker.

I experience this on almost a daily basis as we both work from home. I’m pretty sure I piss her off just about every work day as I dismiss her incessant chatter and meaningless distractions.
It sounds harsh but I’ve had several conversations with her regarding the stress and concentration needed to do my job at a high level. Knowing this, she still gets butt hurt when I shut down the bullshite small talk.
As Wheeler Walker Jr said, “I don’t want no conversation give me that poon, I don’t care about your situation give me that poon, I don’t need no small talk bullsh!t, girl you know I need to have it, give me that poon give me that poon give me that poon”

If you want to stay married, you don't

It's incessant, annoying, interrupts my work and more importantly, the few minutes I have to spare to jump onto TD.
You're right there. But it's a losing battle

If I say I'm in the middle of something and can't talk, she gets pissy then uses it as an excuse to be in a bad mood.
So you already know you're fricked. You just have to come to terms with the fact it won't change.

Now, let me ask. When she is actually working is it the end of the world if you need something and try to talk to her? My so absolutely explodes on me when I do it to her, but god forbid if I don't drop everything on a dime for her when I'm busy and she doesnt get the attention she thinks she desrves

Why do women feel this compulsive need to constantly talk,

Talking is how women process information to determine how they feel/think.
