The ballon was never intended to gather intelligence or study weather. The balloon was intended to send a message to the US that China has the means to deliver a warhead at high altitude over the heartland that can emit an EMP blast that will cripple the country. They want us to have this thought in the back of our minds if they decide to annex Taiwan.

Keep in mind that China is largely funded by western consumers, so they don't want to cripple the west, but they want us to know they can.

This was going to be the greatest gender reveal party of all time, and our military fricked it up

Thanks for you opinion, I definitely did not hear this same thought 50 times in the main threads. But now I know.

We’ve been wasting trillions on stealth tech when all it takes is a balloon? You’re a genius!

You mean Taiwan right? And China has much faster ways to hit us with an EMP than a balloon who’s military design originated 100 years ago.

Scruffy’s theory is that it was to test and see how governments around the world and their populations would respond.

China learned that a good percentage of progressives are perfectly fine with them entering US airspace and another large portion of progressives are perfectly fine with it as long as it is low tech.

The big question is, would the progressives have opposed shooting it down had it been a Russian spy balloon?

Hmmm…

Yes, thank you.

But if they would try to deliver it by ICBM, etc., we would be on the watch for that and likely shot them down (or attempted to) soon after launch.

Yes, to send a message and test boundaries.

Are you aware that such a device does not exist.

The energy it would take to make an EMP that would affect the entire country is enormous.

Affect a large city? Perhaps, but the payload wouldn’t be able to be delivered with a small balloon.

If we did this exact same thing, would the Chinese people ever hear about it?

My theory is that it was a way for the Chinese to see the average American response on social media in order to get a feel for our IQ level. They now know that we are too dumb to worry about.

Not possible. Even the tsar Bomba emp only reached about 80-100 miles. Stop worrying about shite that doesnt exist.

No doubt it would take several well-placed devices. This was to send a message, not actually deliver a warhead and get a gauge for our reaction. The Chicoms DO NOT WANT TO INTERRUPT OUR ECONOMY, but they do want us to have one more thing to consider.

Under Biden, the US has taken Trump’s tariff war up a few notches and US corporations are fleeing China en masse. China cannot afford to use the little youth it has fighting the US militarily. We are done with them. Invading Taiwan is not a geopolitical play that is not going to fix any of their problems.
