I have to say that I’m very proud of him but is it wrong to feel that way?

I think you made too many assumptions about the other kids gender...

did you ask the parents how their child should be identified?

I'd apologize for this not the hitting...;)

Not at all. Some kid threw sand in my daughter’s face in the sandbox the other day. She cried as I cleaned her face. Two minutes later, she stomped the crap of a he kid’s sand castle. That kid was hysterical. I just smiled watching it unfold.

Reward him with extra cookies! A bully needs to be put in his place.

Bull shite. I was never bullied in school (or in the workplace) because I knew how to stand up for myself. I’m proud that he defended himself and remind him to still do so as he gets older

I have an 18 month old daughter. Have a nine year old too. Worried about these sorts of things for the first one. Now we get rando toddler fight stories all the time. For instance. They have new kids in the daycare who came from another daycare that didn't discipline on snatching or touching other kids. Well they start grabbing my kid and snatching her toys. She apparently learned that biting the shite out of a fool will back'em off. Learned it by getting bit herself actually.

Toddler room is survival of the fittest baw.

Better than calling them "unqualified teen girl" or "unable to pass a drug test to get a real job lady".

When my son was three, he walked over to another kid and tapped him on the shoulder. When the kid turned around, my son had his nut sack in his hand and served it right up into the kid’s nose.

The director could hardly tell us what happened because she was crying from laughing.

Dude, toddlers are basically psychopaths. They don't understand things like bullying, vengeance, or even that actions have consequences. They just act with base instincts.

That said, I hope my toddler's instincts would also be to defend himself.

We are struggling with biting with our toddler now. He NEVER bit before this daycare and does not at home (minus and occasional try that gets shut down real quick).

He has been bitten more times than he has bitten (more than once he has been bitten 2-3 times per day). I'm not a crazy mom, I understand bites happen. But they have this crazy policy where if you bite 10 times you get suspended for a week and then are on a two week probation. If you bite during that probation you get expelled from the daycare. I think we are up to 6 bites, he's not even 18 months, their policy is a little out of control, IMO. I don't know our daycare's policy on punching but I'm sure it warrants being sent home. Ugh.
