Baw, get a public adjuster.

State Farm is turrible nowadays. They used to be the top company in the industry but then Ed Rust retired and the company went to shite fast. I don’t know what they’re thinking with some of the decisions they make now. I used to work for one of the best agents in the company and was so thrilled when I left because it was toxic and no longer customer-friendly, which obviously affected my income.

We have USAA and a few years back had the worst hail storm I've ever seen.

The adjuster came out and was super courteous and efficient. We were able to get out roof replaced with upgraded shingles, and have money leftover to add gutters to the back of the house.

USAA is the best. We use all of their services.

You have to go with a smaller outfit. My agent is a small town guy. You know they called me to set up an appointment to come in and review my policies?

You know how many times I’ve had an agent ever do that for me- ever? None.

In defense of the State Farm agent I used to work for, that was a weekly requirement. Our office contacted enough customers on a weekly basis to offer a review that it took less than a year to offer it to the entire customer base. Each of our customers were offered a review once a year.

Still, few took us up on the offer and those who did often found out they didn’t have what they thought they had or that they were paying more than they thought.

I've had USAA in some form or fashion since the 80's. They aren't what the used to be and their rates suck on insurance. Easily beaten auto and home. I recently switched and now have more coverage and an umbrella policy for less than I was paying at USAA.

I would suggest NEVER using them for any kind of mortgage lending.

Still have most of my banking thru them.

Just filed a claim about 2 months ago with USAA for a new roof. Already received the first check and just waiting for Garcia to come do my roof, (but not do my wife). I've been with USAA for over 25 years and have NEVER had an issue or anything less than stellar service.

I was awarded $21,000 by USAA for a new roof 2 months ago. Prices for everything are high right now. They didn't bat an eye.

I've found that most companies aren't doing depreciation on a roof as well so you no longer get paid for the years remaining on your roof. It results in cheaper annual cost and but less in your pocket in the event of a loss. So if you have it keep it.

I will tell you that Farm Bureau, USAA and Shelter are the top three to deal with in our area.

Heard the same for all three from multiple people after Laura.

I don’t know how Liberty Mutual did for anyone else, but my experience with them the last year and a half was great. Replaced the roof and weatherhead after a hailstorm and didn’t argue any estimate we sent in for repairs after Laura.

Not saying you don't deserve a new roof with more context but those photos are not showing storm damage. Definitely not hail anyway.

Sent two separate samples to the shingle manufacturer and they said it was definitely hail damage and would testify to that in court. I don’t have time to deal with all that. So I replaced it myself. Probably what USAA was counting on.

Have USAA homeowners insurance and had a somewhat similar experience in that I initiated a roof damage claim after a mid 2000 hurricane. My claim was denied!

A local roofing company made it a mission to get new roofs for people with damage. Their roofer inspected my roof and said I should get a new roof and had me reschedule a USSA inspection with him present.

Approximately 7 days later was notified that a $22k claim had been approved for a new roof.

I was happy & the roofing company did their job professionally both getting & installing my new roof!

BTW insurance roofs are normally higher than if insurance is not involved.

I would love to get USAA, but no immediate family members in the service, just uncles. I don't think they'd write me a policy.

Everyone doesn’t live in a 1800 soft house, I wish I could get my house re-roofed today for just $20 grand.

My wife insinuated the other day that selling our camper should cover the cost of a new pool being done.

Camper value may be low 20’sK......

USAA is the Chick-fil-A of insurance.

They found items I hadn't thought of that we lost in the 2016 flood on our contents claim. Sent my buddy a check overnight for a truck that flooded during Katrina... based on just a phone call (no pictures). You can find cheaper, but I always feel like they are working to take care of me.

You have to be active, retired, or kids of the two for membership. Keeps out some of the riffraff that would drive claims up.

Selling a used camper for more than the average person can come up with in cash, like a few thousand is tough Most campers are sold to people than really couldn’t afford them, and are financed to the hilt. There are plenty around that can be bought by simply assuming the note with no money down.
