i'm in Nashville and did the same. What sucks is I can and do work fro home, but I left my laptop at work. So i'm oe of about 4 people here. About to leave after I get a few things done.

This has happened to me before.

Dont tell your significant other, go get breakfast and go watch two movies at the theater

I have been trying to get my office to add MLK as a holiday. I say its good for diversity. Not that that matter to me.

Something similar happened to me a few weeks ago when it snowed in south Louisiana. I get to work, sit at my desk, and have a text from boss saying I didn't have to come into work that day. I leave my home around 6AM and the text came in at 6:05AM. I was so concentrated on driving that I didn't even feel my phone vibrate when the text came in. Drove about 35 miles in the snow, which wasn't that bad just had to drive slower and be extra vigilant. Good thing for me was that my boss didn't see me come in and half the office was gone, so I just left.
