I’ve yet to meet a Dauchshunf that was a pleasant dog and I was like ‘oh that seems like a cool dog to have’.

Yep! Dachshunds are assholes. My grandparents had many. One of them sat in my grandfathers lap 24/7 and he was its primary caretaker. One night my cousin and I stayed the night and were about to go to bed, the dog was in the bed with us, my grandfather reached down to pick it up to take it outside one more time before bed and he nailed him. No warning, no growl, no showing of teeth. Ripped his hand up like OP. I’ve met many a mean dachshund in my life.

You’re right,peroxide is a no-no and has been for a very one time.Peroxide is toxic to tissue ,does more harm than good.Slows down heaiing process and increases scarring.


Back to the Dachsunds.A,friend had one that he used for blood trailing deer.Dog was very good at finding deer that had run off,found quite a few deer for different people.
When he found a deer he was super protective of “his” deer and would attack anyone that tried to touch it,including his owner.
My friend brought welding gloves with him when they went looking for a deer,that was after he got bitten a couple of times.

Can’t stand a small dog

Not sure if it even exists anymore, but there was a Texas based hunting forum and a guy with the handle "Duck General" (he "was the Duck Commander and then got promoted") conned everyone into believing he used a dachshund to retrieve ducks. He'd chime in on the "what's the best breed of duck dog" threads with that nonsense and have them all wound up.

I remember him saying that for what they lacked in swimming ability, they made up for with the ability to mark ducks in flight..."because it was only natural since they've been looking up their whole lives."

The dachshund bit, along with the condescension toward anyone who hunts with a Rem 870 and his "Subaru is the perfect duck hunting vehicle...never been stuck once" bit, he'd have those guys losing their minds.
