It's personal preference. If what the bible says is true, every single person in the world is going to hell. At one point in time, we've all had impure thoughts, we've all sinned. However, the bible says "ask for forgiveness and all will be forgiven":

quote:

1 John 1:9 - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness

So all I need to do is accept Jesus Christ my Lord and savior into my heart on my deathbed, and I will be accepted into Heaven with open arms. So why live life based on a book, and do right by a book, when I can do right by my own deed and live happily with no regrets?

So loving everybody as a child of God is being judge of right or wrong?
Nope, but you said "The 12 year old gets it and knows its wrong", as if the wrongness of being gay is a given.

Yes, I have been kind of vague, and I also took the conversation away from the question that was being asked in the OP, for which I apologize. I was kind of considering other implications of the social focus on this topic right now, and don't even necessarily have an answer to or position on those implications.

Teaching a kid right from wrong is not teaching a kid to "hate someone for being different". Two dudes fricking each other up the arse is wrong. I feel sorry for you if you think it's right. But either way, knowing that it is wrong is not "hating them because they are different

And you think you can control whether your child is gay or not.

This sounds great in our politically correct environment but I'm not sure that's the best thing to be teaching children. It's going to really come down to how you approach the term "judge."

I judge everyone I meet. Everyone does. You should judge people. I'm sick of people saying they don't judge because it's bullshite.

I love those kind of parents. They read all the books on parenting.

I 100% believe it is a choice. If proof comes along that says it isn't, I'll change my opinion.

FACT: There is more genetic proof of being a fatfrick than being gay.

I"m not saying fat people are fat because of things outside of their control, but there is more genetic proof (addiction, emotional eating, natural metabolism, etc. etc.) of being fat than being gay.

I thought the progressive crowd loved science.

I have a 5 yr old .

Had he asked me that question I'd said bc they are weird.
Boys kiss girls.
Boys don't kiss boys.

I make no apologies for believing and taking a stance on a moral issue that I believe in.
It's my job to raise my kids how I believe is right, not ow the world/media believes.

How about refraining from forming (or at least sharing) an opinion until you hear proof either way?

Aren't addictions and emotions the result of very complex chemical reactions in the brain? Kind of like desires and love, right?

Nice attempt at being a smartass. I'm pretty sure most would agree that it is more beneficial to all of us for scientists to focus on studying eating disorders and addictions rather than homosexuality.

Ask yourself this question: if it is a choice to be gay, why in the hell would anyone make that choice considering all the hatred and ridicule it opens them up to? How strong does the desire have to be? Love is a powerful thing.

So you made a choice to be attracted to women? Could you choose to start being attracted to men?

Those poor, poor souls, born the "wrong" way. They certainly deserve your contempt and harsh words.
