If he is a good parent the chances of that happening are slim.

We at this, but every gay guy I know had parental issues growing up.

Maybe they had parental issues bc their parents weren't ok with them being gay.

I don't think you quite understand how that works. For one thing, gay people can, do, and have for all of history reproduced. Whether they enjoyed the act or not is up for debate.

So folks willingly choose who to have sex with.....what point are you trying to make?

So the millions of years of evolution have been influenced by the conservative Christians in just relatively few years. Jerry Falwell would be proud of his influence.

Not an agenda per se, but definitely a narrative that it isn't a choice.

The only people pushing the idea of this being a choice are those people for whom it HAS TO be a choice for religious reasons. Everyone else fully understands that to suggest sexual attraction is a choice is to suggest we ALL made a choice at some point and did so having already been attracted to both sexes equally.

No one likes that.

Others, you in this thread for instance, have attempted to split the difference by suggesting that we all have temptations for sin. Of course, this is a cop out, because in this case it labels what you consider a healthy attraction to the opposite sex in you as a temptation when it's felt as an attraction to the same sex in others. You then get to declare that the choice comes when the "temptation" is acted upon. Your choice of acting upon your heterosexual feelings are fine, but their choice is bad.

Unless they are being raped, of course.

Who they choose to be attracted to is not a choice...unless you're willing to admit at one point you were equally attracted to both men and women and decided at some point to only be attracted to women.

It didn't work like that for me. It was girls from the get-go. I guess I was lucky in that I wasn't as confused as some of you guys who had to make a choice.

Just tell them that a defect in their brain that happens to about 5% of the population causes them to like boys instead of girls. They can't help it, but it doesn't affect most people.

The running theme I find is that it's not that hard to explain - the hard part is figuring out how to tell them why it's wrong without sounding like a moron..... Id advise just sticking to the first half, as I don't think many people have accomplished the second half without looking like a moron.

Just tell them he's from another country and that's how best friends congratulate each other. Then say we just high five here. It's only ok in France.

Then when they get older tell them about it, and you'll both laugh about it.

It is a choice to engage in homosexual relations. AS far as attraction goes, that may or may not be a choice depending on the person. Also, why does it HAVE to be a choice for religious reasons? That makes no sense to me.

Not true. Hetero sex can be just as sinful if out of wedlock or if someone is promiscuous/adulterous. No difference in acting on those urges than homosexual urges in terms of sin.

I have two young children not much different in age from the OP's child. I have an aunt that has gone from lesbian to pre-op transgender. The kids also have two friends - who are twins - who have lesbian parents.

They have asked questions a couple of times. We simply tell them that sometimes, people have a mommy and a daddy, or two mommies, or two daddies, or just a mommy, or just a daddy, or maybe a mommy and a stepdad and daddy and a stepmom. But that the important thing is that all parents love their children.

We've also told them that people generally kiss other people that they love.

At their age, I figure that is enough for them to process.
