My little ones were sitting on the sofa with me while I was watching the draft

When Michael Sam got drafted and they showed him kissing his S/O, my kids asked me "daddy, why is that man on tv kissing another man in the mouth?"
I didn't know how to respond that to that question to where a 5 year old would be able to understand. So, I acted like I didn't hear it and sent his arse off to get me a drink from the frig.
I sat down with my wife to discuss what happened and she said she didn't know how to discuss it either. We both agreed that we don't want to discriminate against gays, but at the same time we feel that he's too young to see those type of things on TV.
I guess I was caught off guard by what they showed on TV and the immediate question asked by my son.
How would you handle this situation?
ETA: For those bashing me, forgive me for wanting to think over the issue before presenting a suitable response to my kid. I was trying to think of the best way to answer his question.

You came to the right place.
ETA: I have a 8 week old, so no problem yet. I plan to raise her that we don't think that's right (gasp). Hopefully, I can explain that we don't hate them, but we don't agree with their lifestyle. That makes me a homophobe, tho.

I think this is more disturbing.

Just tell him there are some weird people in this world but in this house little boys only like little girls.

I'm sure the little mouth breather can wait another five years until his parents are mature enough to have a reasonable conversation.

Colin Cowherd said today, "If you can't answer the tough questions your kids have, then don't have kids."

let them watch Modern Family. IMO, that show does a phenomenal job of presenting supposedly gay culture in a non-threatening way.

Was it only the five-year old?
He's going to find out eventually. Hell, he'll probably ask someone at summer camp or whatever.
You should have the talk with him. There's nothing wrong with it.
It's a personal choice, personal decision, just be open to it and respectful.

There is already a thread on this for the homophobes. How would you describe a man kissing a woman? Shouldn't be any different.
