depends where the clog is...my clog was at the garbage disposal (egg shells were the culprit)...plunging cleared it easily and I no longer put egg shells in the garbage disposal.

I had the same problem with the grease build up. But I added a few good squirts of Dawn to the hot water, after I took the pot off the stove. Gave it a stir and poured it slowly down the drain. It cleared it all out.

Take several big pots and fill up with water and bring them all to a boil. pour one down the sink and then the next. Assuming it is a oil stop up, it should work.

Do this... But 10 min before pour 5-6 oz of dawn dish soap down the drain.

Works awesome on toilets. Should work ok sink

On toilets be very careful and probably best not to do it in winter time as the cold toilet and boiling water could crack the toilet and make things 20x worse.

Bad move. You sent that shite plug down the line. Maybe it made it all the way out, maybe not. If it causes a problem later on much farther down, you could be looking at a lot of cash to fix it. In the future, do what the first guy suggested and drop the p-trap. 99% that's where the issue was and you could have removed it from your drainage system in 3 minutes or less.

You are correct. Boiling may be too much.

I use just hot water out of the tub when putting in the toilet to clear it

Use a toilet plunger but don't go crazy with it.

This. About 6 weeks ago I was having problems with drainage in my tub. I called roto rooter and there was a piece on the drain stopper that broke off and got stuck in the trap so they are coming out next week to replace my tube and everything, because removing the tub is the only way to get it out. As a temporary fix. we have to use the plunger, because everything is being caught by the broken piece, but the plunger is able to move it around, enough to unclog it for about 3 or 4 days at a time.. Unless you have some serious issues, you should be able to fix it using the plunger.

And if it is a bathroom sink that has the little over flow hole near the lip you got to cover that as well or the air just bypasses the clog.

I try the plunger first.

If that doesn't work, clean the p trap.

Then try liquid plumber.

The snake is my last resort.

This one time, it was so bad, I had to call a plumber who did a deep power snaking from the clean out in the garage ceiling. Since then, empty redfish half shells don't go in the disposer.

A garden hose and hold a rag around it. This usually works.

Why though? It doesn't do nearly as good as a manual clean and further adds shite to the water we'll drink later.

You sure about that? Might be the reason for the clog.
