My garage sale finds 10/9

There was only one sale (estate sale) in BR today (it actually started yesterday).
My daughter (no pics you sick fricks), has decided to start flipping on eBay as well. I am giving her all this to list, plus for $10, she picked up two bags of unused Estée Lauder makeup and perfumes. She learned from watching a few pickers on YouTube that there’s good money in make up/perfumes. She got 19 different items that sell in the range of $5-$20 each.
I don’t flip little things, I don’t do it for money, I do it for the hunt.
The biggest hits today were the Dave Brubeck LP and the three watches. Nothing big, I did see a copy of this LP sell for $87, but it was mint. The watches each sold for $50-$75 each.
$1 LP’s
Dave Brubeck $30+
Jimmy Buffett $25 total
Nate King Cole $30 total
$1
Hand painted Japanese recipe box $15
$3
Save the Children tie $15
$20
Bulova watches from the 20’s & 30’s $150-$200 total

Ever find any guitars or guitar amps at these?
Posted on 10/9/20 at 12:03 pm to theantiquetiger
I would have never known that was worth any more than they were asking.

Amps, no.
I did find a Fender acoustic one time. It was a A-10 or something. I think I sold it for a couple hundred, I paid $100. This was before smartphones.

shop goodwill online has ruined the hunt for me. i liked the surprise, not having to search for things specifically, and it pulled all the good shite out of goodwills to the natl online store

I agree completely. If I was by myself, I probably would have bought the Brubeck album and the watches (and maybe not).
The only reason I bought this stuff is because of my daughter wants to flip.

I only ever find knockoff guitars at these kinds of things. I did buy a very nice 70’s lawsuit era Les Paul clone. Solid wood body, great resonance, impeccable finish, fixed neck, but the electronics were shot. I spent around $160 for it. I then Invested about $140 worth of upgrades To the pickups, pots, tuners, etc and it’s been a great Guitar. I could probably get $500 or so for it if I wanted to sell it, but it’s a keeper for now. I’m considering adding a bigsby tremolo system to it just for fun.

When it first started, I got a few great vintage toy buys off of there. That was 10 years ago at least.

3,3,3,3...
I had to bring everything from inside the house to outside of the house.
And then pay to have it all removed.
From it I have learnt I don’t want anything more than what I need.
I am happy you have a hobby that you enjoy and it is interesting to see what deals and the old stuff that turns up.
But it ain’t me babe.
Exception: Old collector coins, them I’ll make room for...
Good luck and don’t stop posting.

My grandfather could sniff out a garage sale from 100 miles away. He accumulated one of the biggest pocket knife collections I've ever seen. Maybe one weekend I'll give one a shot in rememberance of him

Are you trying to raise a spinster?

Dude, you are over-valuing those LP's for a LOT more than they are worth. Nobody is buying a used Dave Brubeck album for $30. Ebay sold listings. Is $1 a good deal? Sure. You won't get much more than that though from a record store and may get $5 if selling online, more if you are lucky.
