That is genuine sleep paralysis. Your brain has come online before your body is up an running. The black being on your chest nonsense is just some silly shite people convince themselves of

Only one iteration of it. It can take many forms.

Are dreams real?

ETA: what I mean is that what goes on in dreams exists on some plane of existence. Not that it is a physical, tangible manifestation

Absolutely not in any other sense than your brain is filing away and rearranging the contents of its data banks

Explain dreams that come true then? Explain dreams of things you’ve never seen or experienced in this present life.

Before we understood it, did gravity exist? Did the machinations of the universe hold sway before we discovered them?
You assume that because of current understanding that future discovery is impossible.

Bruuuuh this has been a quality troll, but claiming to lack rudimentary understanding of the brain processes behind deja vu is a dead giveaway

I had my first experience with sleep paralysis last night. I woke up around 2:30, and couldn’t go back to sleep. I listened to a podcast for about an hour, and then it felt like my wife got out of bed, a little while later I felt someone spoon with me from behind. I just figured it was my wife, I stayed in that position for a while, and then I felt someone put their hand under my chin and lift my head a bit. It was at this moment that I realized that I wasn’t breathing and I gasped for air and woke up. It kinda freaked me out because I didn’t realize that I had fallen asleep until I woke up and found that I wasn’t breathing. Also, I found that my wife hadn’t moved from the spot she was in before I fell asleep (I was facing her when I fell asleep), and my back was basically on the edge of the bed, so there was no way that anyone was spooning me from behind.

Needless to say, it kinda weirded me out a bit.

I have something where I can't breathe. I wake up trying to breathe and I can't. I get up and wheeze, trying to breathe. Like I'm under water, I have go to the bathroom to get water and usually by then I can breathe.

I ain't wearing no mask to sleep though.

In the spiritual world that's called being in the presence of a demonic spirit.

And most will say they don't exist, but aliens and UFOs do.

I had a friend when i was in jr high that kept telling me he would wake up in the middle of the night because a dark shadow was choking him. He was afraid to tell his parents. I have since lost touch with him but I'm pretty sure he was dealing with sleep paralysis.
