My friend told me he had a episode of sleep paralysis

He said he was screaming and wanted to yell when he saw a dark figure . He said the figure got closer and it hit him in the face and he woke up. He realized it was a dream but he said he could still feel pain in his face where the dark figure punched him. I always heard stories of sleep paralysis and the dark figure but never experienced it before.

A cousin had this happen to him years ago. Except the figure sat on his chest and he couldn't breathe for a bit.

what are you saying? was the dark figure there, in reality? and punched him?
Or that sleep paralysis is unusual? Because it is a crucial function the brain employs to allow dreams to occur, and not have you fall down stairs, burn yourself, etc.

The sleep paralysis demon is a totally fabricated myth and anyone who believes they experienced this is just highly suggestible

Whenever I have sleep paralysis I usually realize I'm dreaming almost immediately.
