My dog finally lost the good fight today.

Her poor little heart finally expired this morning. She was ten years old and I had her for five years. Unlike most Cavaliers, she was a Type A. Rambunctious as hell and loved to play tug of war. She developed quite a few talents. She was a home repair consultant at Home Depot and Lowes as she rode around in the buggy and was quite the sommelier at the liquor store. She also assisted the chiropractor whenever she visited his office with me. She also solved most of the world's problems when she hung out at the local coffee shop.
18 months ago she developed a grade III murmur. I got a heart echo a year ago and put her on three meds. The murmur worsened to a grade VI in January and from that point it was a race against time. I did everything, aspirations, lasix, and other things to keep her going. However, the weight started to fall over the last two months while more and more fluid developed in her body. The vet aspirated a pound and a half of fluid from around her belly yesterday. She had a fun evening, was back to her old self, and played around. However, she had a seizure that lasted a few seconds this morning and then she laid to rest .
She was the best little girl a daddy could ask for. This is a tough one.
