being that the kid is still a kid, i think you as an adult have an obligation to keep your open front yard a safe environment. most associations have rules to keep all pets on leashes for this very damn problem.

You should let that dog loose on the kid's mom while you're at it

Is the penalty for trespassing having an aggressive dog attack you? Is a kid reasonably supposed to know where your property line is? Put your shite dog behind a real fence.

well a cute puppy in the front yard is just begging little children to go touch and pet the dog.

First sentence to this story should have been: You might be redneck if....

On occasion, dogs have been known to bite kids who pick on them. I’ve also heard that bears shite in the woods, squirrels like to climb trees, and fatties like McDonalds.

Get out your wallet because that fat arse mom is definitely coming for a payout. Unless you can prove that kid was trespassing, you’re paying.

“Dear land whale mom, please stop allowing your child to trespass on my property, and there won’t be any further issues.”

The penalty for grabbing a dog by it's front legs, while trespassing, after being told it is not friendly is definitely an aggressive dog attack
I mean come the frick on.

Im gonna follow this story just to count the trash points at the end.

while the kid was in the wrong here, there's such a thing as an attractive nuisance problem. it's why pool owners have to build fences around pools. it may come into play here. don't assume you're off scott free.

The shite head neighbor kid keeps coming over to the yard to try to play with her. I told the kids fat mom that he shouldn't be messing with that dog because she isn't always friendly.
Unfriendly dogs can be kept in cages. Shithead kids cannot. You saw the bad mix coming and chose to do nothing. Mom knows that too. She also may know there's a legal concept known as "an attractive nuisance" (your tiny dog running wild).
Good luck, but that dilemma is what you sign up for when taking on the responsibility of owning animals as pets.

I wish the OT was like my neighborhood: free of shite head people like you.

I was watching my neighbor's kids while the wives were at a wedding. Younger boy about 7-8 decided he would jump on my chocolate lab while the dog was sleeping. Got bit on the head and needed a couple of stitches. Parents were really cool and blamed their son for his stupidity.
Still have the local animal control come out an put my dog in a in-house 48 hour quarantine plus it was on some kind of probation would be hauled off to be put down if he bit again. Local cop came around to the parent's house and asked if they wanted to press charges. The said hell no but it was a bit worrisome to say the least.
The law errs against the pet owner and you can get into a lot of trouble if the other party wants to be an a-hole.

I've seen this twice now, did OP ever say whether he actually had a fence?
