I think it's still very possible, but can't say positively without reading your policy. Not sure what company you are with, but I would definitely call my agent and let him know what happened. He will be able to tell you about the coverage, and whether or not he recommends you file a claim. Worth a phone call.

Wouldn't you want the exact same thing if you were the other owner?

Not when I know that there's a risk that my yippie gay dog might get it's arse chewed in half by a bigger dog, and I still let it out to socialize with the bigger dogs.

Owner of the small dog needs to take some responsibility as well. I never let my dog play with other dogs without watching whats going on and being in a close position to interfere if need be.

Shocked you paid for the bills to be honest because there's a good chance the little dog provoked this. You are a good dude LE.

Some states have a "one bite" law meaning a dog is not considered vicious until has bitten a person for the first time. After that the owner is liable. Call a Florida attorney.

That's a shitty situation, but to some extent, if a dog is the size of a squirrel, it's on the owner to keep it safe around real dogs.

I wouldn't let my 30 pound son play in a league with 150 pound kids. If you want a novelty pet, you should understand that it may take effort to keep it safe.
