This morning my father had a major heart attack at only 46 years old. Somehow he's alive and should be fine. His Widow Maker Artery (I think that's what it was called) was 95% blocked.

I guess it's a damn miracle.

I'm only 20 and it truly made me want to spend more time with my family. Spend time with your family.

ETA:
I thought I was honestly going to write more but I'm still kind of shocked. The doctor said that smoking probably had a major part in blocking the artery.

Damn.

My wife is an ICU nurse and said the past couple years you wouldnt believe how many 30/40/50 year olds in there from heart attack.

God bless your dad, glad he's pulling through.

Glad to hear he made it. I lost my dad last year to a heart attack but he was 74. It was still out of the blue and completely unexpected.

Same here unfortunately, and same age 74. My dad went in for bypass surgery and had heart attack in the ICU while recovering. He never made it home.

Thank you. I truly didn't think it was that serious this morning. At like 3 AM he went to the ER because he had some chest pains, but he thought he was just having bad heart burn. When we were moved to this hospital, they said it was a minor heart attack and that he should be fine. They did an angiogram and said the artery was about 95% blocked and he was very close to probably dying. It's insane how lucky he got.

Glad to hear he will be okay. Make sure you start getting check ups once you turn 30.

Heart issues can be hereditary.

Glad to hear he made it. I lost my dad to one when he was 53. He seemed to be in great shape. Don't take the time you have with your parents for granted.

Your Dad, and anyone who survives a left anterior descending artery infarct, is very fortunate.

Make sure you tell him how very happy you are to have him around. Best to you and your family.

God Bless.

Yeah, both of my great grandparents had major heart attacks and my grandpa had one too. (All on my mom's side)

We have no clue about my dad's side, he was adopted when he was a baby and we never met his parents, or even know anything about his family. Might have to look into it now.

I'm sorry for your loss. These things terrify me. One day they can be fine and then it could all change in an instant.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I couldn't imagine losing my dad. Now it was almost a reality. I definitely need to spend more time with him. Gonna make me value or fishing trip a lot more now.

Sorry to hear that OP. I hope he continues to improve.

On another note, I'm 46, and your post scares the shite out of me.

Mine was walking out the door to a damned cardiologist appointment and just died in the driveway. It's been 5 years and it's still very hard to deal with.

Glad he’s ok. I lost my dad to a heart attack when he was 43. This was years ago but he was in shape and very athletic. Age doesn’t matter. I also almost lost my brother to heart problems when he was in high school

Buried my dad this past June. Spend as much time with loved ones as you can. Take nothing for granted.

2 years ago my dad had the widow maker but thankfully he was in the er when it happened. A few days leading up to it, he was complaining of pain between his shoulder blades. Went to the doctor on Monday and did an echo gram and said they didn’t see anything.
Two days later on Wednesday morning, getting ready to leave for work and the pain came back. Was rubbing his back, but didn’t want to go to the er because he’s hard Headed.
Got to the ER and they did another tear and put him in a room. Doctor comes in and said we gotta go now. They hauled arse pushing him to an OR and actually took some one off the table so they could put him on it. They put the stint in and all is well with him today.

TLDR version: Dad had widowmaker/survived and his doing well. Heck he was back at work in a week.

My great grandpa was on the way home from church and had a heart attack right in front of his house and crashed. Died on the spot. My great grandma saw it all from the house.
