Is the latest video on Soft White Underbelly YouTube channel the clue? That’s the first place I looked. Being that he interviews homeless people in Los Angeles. First video from yesterday the guy says he is from Baton Rouge.
100% him. Tells the story of his wreck and going missing at minute 26 or so.

Yeah our parents specifically our mom sucks at life. Colin joined the coast guard, owned a home at 22, and has never done ANYTHING to anyone until he spiraled out of control recently. And the majority of it was done to himself. He never once harmed me, our family or his friends his entire life. This has been a sad and tragic period but I’m just grateful he’s alive and we’re in the process of getting him out of there.
Watching the video now. Your brother has some serious demons to deal with. The guy that posted the video also made some great points

What do you suggest? Give him money to do the “right thing”? I’ve learned the hard way that that money won’t be spent the way you’re intended it to be spent. Shall we send him to rehab? That fails 98% of the time. If we still want to try a program don’t forget to consider that you get what you pay for. Amanda’s rehab was around $150K. The most important part to consider is whether Colin is ready to change. Even when an addict tells me they want to get clean for all the right reasons I’ve seen that what they’re actually going to do is nothing close to what they said. Talk is cheap. An addict who is ready to truly change doesn’t sit around and talk about what they’re going to do. They’re silently, privately doing it far from Skid Row. The problems you see here are not about drugs in my opinion. The problem is mental health, which is not easily fixed. How do you repair a broken childhood? These videos are preventative. They’re cautionary tales. If any of these people were truly serious about getting clean they wouldn’t be on Skid Row. I try to use the GoFundMe donations to help those few who are trying to do it with or without anyone’s help. Anything other than that is just enabling. This is a serious and very complicated problem. I believe the best solution is better parenting and that’s where these “cruelly voyeuristic” videos serve their purpose.
I hope he is ready to change. Seems like life just beat him up for a period and to deal with it he turned to drugs.

Sampson, glad to hear your brother is alive and hopefully coming home. It’s mind boggling how some people are being complete douches in this thread.

I am so sorry you and your brother had to grow up with alcoholic abusers. Please know there is more to life. Please get your brother in rehab and counseling. I know it sounds cliche but get help. It is not ya'lls fault your parents were drunk & abusive. You don't want to carry it on to others. Are your grandparents non abusive & loving?
Your brother may not want to leave.

I imagine when Colin is clean and sober in the future and he watches this video it will be a great reminder to never go back to this place hopefully.
When he described his daily cycle of revolving around drugs and getting robbed is sad

he drowned himself in drugs because he couldn't see his kid. he needs to clean up and get back in the coast guard.

OP. Not sure what your plans are or if he is ready, but going to throw this out. I’m a member at Rocky Creek Baptist in Greenville, SC. We have a ministry relationship with miracle Hill ministry here in Greenville and I know the president.
Christian based org helping people get things back on track, and at our church we have an Overcomers program where we minister with these folks, and have been relatively to very successful helping.
Colin is welcome to join us anytime, and we will love him while surrounding him with accountability. Some of our best members, members of my gospel group, and friends have all been in some really dark places and are thriving now. It can happen. Good luck and congrats on finding him

What are the odds of you ever seeing that interview he did? Unless a lot of people (The OT) were asked for help and someone happened to catch the video.
You know he is okay.

Depends on what you mean by rescue. Yes you can't make the decisions needed to progress for them, but you never give up on pulling them out of that environment and giving them a leg up on turning a new leaf. Sure they could fall back in, but pulling them somewhat out of the hole gives them a chance. He surely won't make it out being where he is
