My 89 year old mom on way to surgery

She fell yesterday and broke femur. Doctors say she must have surgery despite being high risk. I know y’all don’t know me but would appreciate your prayers for her to come thru this.

You meant be there when the therapist does it the first time to make sure you know how to best assist her especially if she has weight bearing limitations

Sorry to hear. Praying for her.

My mother recently passed away in her 90s and her biggest fear was, rightfully so, falling.
Prayers for your mother

Done.
If she hasn’t gone in yet please ask the doc if it’s possible to fix it either ORIF or partial hip replacement (depending on fracture location) that will allow her to be weight bearing afterwards. This is the absolute biggest thing you can advocate for her right now.
I’m a PT in a hospital and it makes all the difference in the world when a surgeon does a quick fix and the elderly patient can’t put weight on it for 6 weeks vs are allowed to start putting weight/walking with assistance from the jump.
Good luck brother.

My mom’s biggest fear is falling as well. Nasty break on femur high up near ball. She has defied odds considering her side of families long history of heart failure. They need to place rod and pin... otherwise she’ll live in constant pain and never stand agaIn.

Prayers for your dear Mom.
Your mothers injury reminds me of my wife's grandmother.
My wife, her aunt, and her sister took turns caring for her 24/7. She was never alone. Well, one day they diverted their attention away from her for three minutes, whereupon she tried to stand up, fell and broke her hip. She got through the surgery okay but was bedridden till her death.
Lesson learned - when it comes to caring for elderly, in home, never drop your guard for one moment
Please keep us informed of her condition.

Thank you all. Will be a long day. I’ll give update later. God willing she’ll get thru this.

Have had several older family members have falls with nasty, life-altering injuries. Hate that older people are so susceptible to them and often with severe consequences.

Praying for best result

Unfortunately it's the only way to fix it...
Same thing happened to my dad.
I hope she does well.

For some reason, this line spoke to me. I took a minute and did what you asked.
