But it's a gun free zone so people shouldn't bring guns because that would be breaking the law

A colleague's mother works at OSU medical center and said they are in "disaster mode."

Checked on my little brother and he's OK.

Gtfo with this ignorant shite, especially considering one of the deadliest campus shootings in history happened in Austin.

"Disaster" mode is just an internal designation to implement mass response protocol.

It also triggers cooperative protocol with other facilities in the areas to share resources.

My hospital implemented it a few weeks ago due to our ER being overwhelmed.

Playing dead usually works in these situations, the shooters aren't going to shoot people on the ground to make sure they are dead. It's not the movies and not genocide, they are looking for easy targets walking/ running around.

You couldn't be any more wrong in your opinions. Everything you said is wholly inaccurate as borne out by studies of active shooter incidents. But feel free to lay there and be an easy target while I get away from the guy with a gun.

That "run hide fight" thing seems weird.

as someone who works in a public university... that's what they're mandated to teach us in this scenario

that's your tax dollars at work people

Because it's the best course of action. Do you have a better idea?

If you can't run or hide, then you fricking fight.

Yes, it sounds foolhardy against someone with a gun. But this is life or death we're talking about. That's why it's called a "last resort."

Thanks for the information.

Is the threshold different depending on trauma unit level (OSU is level one)?

You're clueless if you think UT or any other campus would stop some shite like this. Turning an active shooter on campus into a dick measuring contest about who carries on campus more often is fricking ignorant.

Yeah we call our response fight or flight for a reason.

Obviously flight is ideal.

considering they now let them carry guns on campus and then they did not this argument is invalid.
