There was one in Baton Rouge off O’Neal.

Was that ever ruled a homicide or murder/suicide?

Last thing I found on it from The Advocate.
quote:

A husband and wife discovered slain inside a home off O'Neal Lane on Monday died of different causes: the wife was beaten and strangled, while the husband died of a gunshot wound, a coroner's investigation found.

The victims were found inside a home in the 1600 block of Indigo Ridge Avenue around 12:30 p.m. on Monday, said Casey Rayborn Hicks, an East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office spokesperson. They were identified that evening as Jenell Manuel, 59, and her husband, Coby Manuel, also 59.

Jenell Manuel died of "blunt and sharp force injuries" and strangulation while Coby Manuel was killed by a gunshot wound to the head, said Shane Evans, a spokesman for the East Baton Rouge Coroner's Office. It's not clear whether the shooting was a homicide or self-inflicted; the manner of both deaths remains under investigation, Evans said.

Never really followed up on it. We had a couple mutual friends on Facebook and I hadn’t heard anything else on it.

true and some of the areas around 1088 and soult st aren't exactly what most people think when they think of "mandeville"

I know right. The Pasentine compound next to Cherry Ridge Ct is a fricking dump. Definitely a seedy area.

Mandeville didn’t have these kinds of problems when I was a kid

Oh Gosh shut the frick up. The only problems you had as a kid were not pooping your pants. Mandeville is still the top tier place to live in LA. This isolated incident does not change that.
