Kind of sounds like that real estate agent who beat that guy to death in Nola. I think he died a few days later too.
Garrett Ward was released on a $250K surety bond, charged with 2nd degree murder for beating to death a homeless man in NOLA. Apparently Ward has been seen drinking at the Bulldog and other establishments around town.
Imagine this dude having to face an Orleans Parish jury on a second degree murder charge?

This is the main reason my kid is not going to LSU.

Our youngest will be in college in a few years. I guess it all depends on whether or not she gets a scholarship somewhere but if it's just TOPS I may encourage her to go elsewhere too.
I love my alma mater but do you really want your 18 yr old daughter living in BR?

The death of his wife will count towards the homicide stats. His suicide will not

And nobody cares that good people are leaving in droves. Nobody cares that good people will send their kids out of state to go to college. I’ve talked about this before on here, but my wife and I will aggressively pursue jobs in Naples, FL next year. I’ve lived my entire life here in BR, but we’ve had enough of this BS. I can’t imagine what EBR will look like in 10 years.

Murder #132, #133, #134, and #135 in BR…

The amount of LSU bumper stickers and license plates in Houston is staggering.

Yeah we are right there with you. Our youngest has 3.5 years of HS left and we've struggled with the idea of uprooting her in the middle of it.
Worst case scenario when she graduates we'll have a for sale sign in the yard the next day.

Do not send her to LSU…. I’m surprised you still live there.

uprooting
Is it uprooting or fear of change? Some of the most interesting and accomplished people I’ve met especially after college were military kids that lived in multiple places across the world.

Is South La the most violent area in the USA?
Posted on 10/23/21 at 10:51 am to RogerTheShrubber
I believe it is. I know LA is the most violent state and Nola and BR are the most violent cities here with maybe Shreveport thrown in there as well.

Any city that is being run by a black female mayor is spiraling out of control. Doesn’t matter if it’s in the north, south, east, or west.

She's been in the same school since pre-K.
It almost seems cruel to pull her out at this point vs waiting 3.5 years for purely selfish reasons. My wife and I both have good jobs here. We certainly don't have to move.

When I moved from LA, first thing I noticed as I traveled across the country was the nightly news elsewhere was far more pleasant. In La, it always started off with homicide or corruption, then weather which was as violent as the crimes.

On a per capita basis, Baton Rouge is more deadly than Chicago.

There's not even really an effort to improve things like crime or rampant homelessness anymore. We essentially have the "defund the police" crowd in charge now.

One odd item about all these homicides is that I don't hear anything about the funerals for the murdered. It would seem to me that at the funeral would be an opportune time for the families to strike out at the failed leadership of Baton Rouge. Where are the marches to protest the senseless killings of all the young blacks of the city? Crickets. Also certain areas of the city have staggering increases of property values, houses near Acadian and Broussard that were built in the 1940s for $20K are now selling for $400K and up.

Oh yeah…this is most definitely true. We stopped watching the local news at least 10 years ago.
