I guess I would describe it as “rah-ns” phonetically. Loved visiting…one of the most beautiful churches in the world.

There's a great small museum in Reims. It is the Supreme HQ Allied Expeditionary Forces Allied where Eisenhower and his staff finished WW2. The highlight is the surrender room where the German unconditional surrender was signed. The room was.preserved as.iw as that day with place cards on the table for the signees and best part, the operational maps with unit locations, strength, logistics etc. We had auch an uperhand, they walked General Alfred Jodl (Chief of Staff of the German Army) into the room and allowed him to see the full operational situation. Since Eisenhower out ranked the German he sat and waited in his office while his Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Walter Bedell Smith, conducted the negotiation and signed for the Allies.

The discovery offers a rare glimpse into the tastes and traditions of the Roman elite who lived far from the empire’s major urban centers.

Awesome discovery, but...

To nitpick, Reims was a major urban center at the height of the Empire. It was the capital of Gallia Belgica for a long time and, along with Trier and Metz, served as the major logistical hubs for the major frontier cities that housed legions like Bonn, Cologne, Koblenz, Mainz, Strasbourg, etc. It also served as a logistical hub for men and materiel heading north to Britannia. The Rhine River valley and the nearby areas were one of the most densely populated areas of Rome during the imperial era.
