Rolling Fork is awful. Apparently everyone inside a dollar general was killed. Guy I know owns a tire shop there and he does a service for catfish farmers putting chemical out with an airboat. He lost everything. Everyone I know in silver city is ok their houses got damaged but no injuries. I sent some gas down there from the farm to a chainsaw group helping clear the roads

Drone footage of rolling fork. I doubt the town recovers, it’s one of those rural delta towns with a declining population and a handful of wealthy farmers propping it up. Only way it recovers is if they get a lot of federal relief money to rebuild

This is on the West side of Amory. That gas station is on Hwy 6 just a short distance from the Tenn-Tomm Waterway and the NauticStar boat plant.

There’s an image from some chaser video out there where you can see the headlights of a car that has been lofted by the tornado. Don’t really want to repost it. Very disturbing.

Amory drone footage from LSM (YouTube)

Not as bad as the radar presentation lead to believe initially. I feared the worst when that thing wrapped up.

I’m hearing horror stories out of rolling fork. BIL went to do search and rescue he works at hospital. Bodies everywhere including kids, people and body parts in trees. It’s heart wrenching

Curious....is the NOAA SPC more inclined to include more populated areas in their convective outlooks - taking a more conservative/cautious position?

I haven't really noticed this being an issue.

WTVA meteorologist Matt Laubhan

True story: Matt's first full day on the job at WTVA was April 27, 2011. Talk about being thrown into the fire.

I should say that I think this is a true story. I couldn't find his exact first day. I'm almost certain I have read or heard that before. It was certainly one of his first days, as he was hired in March of 2011.

Anyone who finds local news live coverage of the Rolling Fork tornado please post it. Nothing has been posted to YouTube, and I don't know if any channels were livestreaming their coverage or not.

I’m not sure if there is any local news for Rolling Fork tbh

I watched local delta news while the tornado was going on and barely anything mentioned. Our local news sucks arse I’m not even sure they really have a meteorologist to do live coverage

NWS Jackson has had their survey teams deployed today. They said in may take a couple of days to complete surveys and get preliminary ratings out, though.

I feel like I haven’t heard that much about the Amory and Smithville areas. I take it they weren’t hit as hard as Rolling Fork, but I have seen very little about those areas.

ETA: Just watched some drone footage from Amory. Lots of damage there. Not Rolling Fork magnitude, but still pretty bad.

I think I read they're getting help from Huntsville and Memphis, as well.

Yeah, I was going to say I posted a Live Storms Media drone video. They do have a lot of damage, but not as bad as I was expecting with the radar presentation.
