It is what caused my tinnitus and hearing loss. Welcome to hearing aides

Thanks for the reassuring input and great advice! I’m 30 so hopefully age works in my favor with the healing. Have a great week.

Tinnitus sufferer here. 35. Had it since I was in my early 20s. Just being dumb and not ever wearing ear protection in loud environments.

Appreciate it. I’ll keep that in my back pocket if nothing is working. I was given a mushroom blend of lion’s mane that they claim helps with nerve damage that I’ll try.

You took damage. Make no mistake about that, because if it was days ago and you still have discomfort, you took damage.
Learn from it and invest in your hearing protection - we only get 5 senses - and make sure the dumbass who squeezed off a round learns too, but never rely on a dumbass to not be a dumbass, because they're dumbasses. Protect yourself from dumbasses. I speak from a position of authority: I have the hearing loss t-shirt because of dumbasses (including myself).
But you'll be fine. It's jarring to contemplate the loss of one of your senses. That was the worst part for me during peak covid hysteria: having covid could've spelled doom to my senses of taste and smell as far as what they were telling us at the time.
These days, there's no excuse for hearing damage, but you'll be fine.

I got my ears run in the duck blind a couple years ago. Barrel was probably less than 12 inches above my head. I had exactly what you experienced. I couldn’t hear out that ear for about a week and thought I had permanent damage. Taking a shower was hell and anything high pitched was annoying. Today it’s all good but the tinnitus is definitely worse in my left than my right. My hearing is only slightly worse than it was before.

I had a 12 gauge discharge inches from my right ear when I was about 15. 35 years later, the tinnitus in my right ear is still deafening. It absolutely sucks so bad to never be in silence. I have learned to live with it, but I see why it can be a cause for suicid3 with many

Have you ever watched a show on TV or movie where the firearms are fired inside the car? Yeah, well, it ain't like that at all.
I learned the hard way to never trust anyone with my firearms. Took a guy hunting with me, drove the IH Scout out to where I wanted. I was sitting in the front and the guy I brought with me was behind me. I was using a semi-auto .30.06 and I was letting him use a scoped .35 Remington lever action.
I had just stopped. Was getting my gloves and a few other things and I hear him use the lever action on the rifle, which sets the hammer. Before I tall him to stop and don't put live ammo in the gun in the vehicle, the fricking idiot pulled the trigger and shot a hole right through the side of the Scout. All the windows were up. The percussion from that blast had me unable hear for the rest of that day. The friendly relationship with that guy ended that day.

I took my nephew shooting a few months back.
Everyone there used hearing protection. I didn’t, in large part because it “wasn’t that bad.”
I’m coming to realize that a lifetime of duck hunting has done some damage.

Are you sure that your eustacfhian tubes aren't clogged?
It can sound like you're description.

Had similar symptoms years ago. We evacuated to a relatives house for Katrina and they live out in the country in MS. My cousin and I went out one day and shot his .45 ACP 1911 without ear protection. Had muffled hearing for a few weeks but it all eventually went back to normal.

First time I went to an indoor range, I only used the crappy earmuffs they gave me. My hearing was messed up after for probably 2-3 weeks. But it eventually got better. Ever since, when I go to the range, I double-up with both ear plugs and earmuffs.

You must’ve been in front of the muzzle. You need to really choose your shooting partners better. Some of these gun guys don’t really understand firearms.
