Can’t list southern icons without a black person and Elvis don’t count.

There is no way this is accurate

It's not. The mileage is correct, but it's mostly due east. It's about 120 miles north.

Minneapolis, MN isn't quite 596 miles NORTH of Bentonville, AR.

pretty sure Louisville is considerably farther south than that

Ray Charles should probably be somewhere on the list.

It is probably accurate as the Northern route from Louisville to Arkansas is boring as all get out.

By the time you drive South from Louisville to Nashville, then West to Memphis, then Northwest to Little Rock, then North to Bentonville, it may be longer but the food and driving is way better.

Dolly Parton, Richard Petty, and William Faulkner.

Last spot goes to either Elvis, Hank Williams, Jerry Lee Lewis, Jimmy Swaggart, or Ray Charles.

i think we need to cover big parts of south
music
literature
sports
and food

music: Top picks for me would be Elvis, Dolly, or Louis Armstrong. All are iconic figures. I think Skynyrd is an awesome representation, but who to pick from the band?
Final vote : Elvis

literature: Faulkner or Twain, even though twain isn't technically a southerner
Final Vote: Twain

Sports: Dale Earnhardt or Muhammed Ali
Final Vote: I have a hard time here, either really. i th ink i would go with Dale

Food: you think great food, and south, you think louisiana. Paul Prudhomme is probably the most recognizable louisiana chef. Col. Sander undoubtedly has a worldwide presence and an icon. What is more iconic southern dish than fried chicken?
Final Vote: The colonel.

Kige is more like a deity than a figurehead, I mean can you see there Dali Lama on Mt Rushmore? Kige is too humble to be so showy.

I think Bear is a logical choice, but just sports, or just football.

Bear Bryant and Neyland would be at the top of such a list along with Adolph Rupp.
