In a few weeks for a career change. Been there many times for partying and golf. What are some of the local spots to check out?

I just moved back after 4 years away. Moved to the Southern Highlands area.
Honestly, what ever area you move to, a local Bar will probably be within walking distance. PT's Pubs are great place to hang out if you like those atmospheres. They have a PT's for LSU alumni as well. If alumni of different school or fan of certain team, just look online, a bar somewhere in this town with same fans.
Also the casinos off the strip always have good local deals, my favorite is the Silverton (but it is close to me) They have a cool bar with mini bowling and $1 beer.
If you like outdoor stuff Red Rock Canyon is close and so is Mt. Charleston. The public parks in this town are top notch and clean.
The 4 years I was away, coming back this damn city has grown even more since when I was here from 2005-2010. It is crazy.

I have wanted to live there for years but my wife is convinced I'll blow everything on hookers. She obviously forgot about the blow

Those grocery stores runs might get you too, you can pick up some milk and blow money at video poker on the way out of Albertsons.
Those people here scare me, just go to a casino, one is no more than 5 minutes away.

Going for a bachelor party at the end of June. Gonna piggy back any info you get. Don't mind me. Just going to sit back and listen.

Just post up at a gaming table at the Cosmopolitan in front of the night club and watch the women flock in on the weekend. Enjoy.

I used to live there, hence my username. I loved it there
Are you looking to buy a house or rent an apartment/house?
One of my favorite places to eat was a place called the Chicken Shack on Sunset Blvd, great wings. My favorite casinos to hang out at are The M, Palms, Hard Rock, Red Rock and Green Valley Ranch.

One thing I learned is that there are going to be panhandlers and degenerates no matter where you go
You'll have people openly telling everyone that they are spending their unemployment checks/welfare money at the casinos.
While I was grinding away betting baseball and WNBA over the summer there was this clown who would always come in and bet his unemployment check money on longshot MLB parlays and had no shame in doing so.
Not to mention the panhandlers that roam the city. Every now and then you'd see guys in business suits trying to hitchhike at a freeway ramp intersection. Presumably because they were there on a business trip and gambled away their plane ticket home,

Yup.
Edit: this isn't a trap, right? Cosmopolitan sounds awfully, how should I put this, not... straight...

The Cosmo does it right if you like the nightclub atmosphere. Women flock to that place.

Noted. Staying at the MGM. Looks like it's just under a mile from the Cosmo. Not the most nightclub going group, but one that would sit through a Vagina Monologue marathon if it meant droves of women.

Just getting through from a few night stay at Cosmo, the women do flock here like the salmon of capistrono. It has gotten a bit more urban than I remember from last time I was here.

It doesn't take very long to walk from MGM to the Cosmopolitan
I am not a fan of MGM Grand, its too big and seems to attract way too many d-bags and 30k millionaires. Ceasars also fits that mold well

We had two GM's move there to run a subsidiary. Both succumbed to the lifestyle - gambling/booze, and were flushed out. Really was sad to watch it go down.

Stick to cosmo, aria, bellagio, and especially the wynn/encore. Nightswim at XS is nuts. Hakkassan usually has quite a few girls looking for a one nighter as well. Drai's for after hours. Stay away from downtown/freemont st. Day parties can be fun, if you feel like going really hard. If you're sober your will probably hate them.
