I didn't realize that Bisbano's was still around. I loved that place, back in the day.

Used to be at least a once a week stop when I was in college.

Made it there this weekend. Excellent spot.

OP, I moved to Laf from BR about three months ago. I've enjoyed it so far and anytime my radio is on a BR station and I hear the traffic report, I'm a little more glad im not there anymore.

Yeah, if he says what kind of food he's in to, we can steer him the right way. You don't realize how many awesome restaurants are in Lafayette until you spend a significant amount of time surrounded by only chains.

I am curious who has the best cochon de lait. I love Cajun food and hate chains. I'm glad to see a few good pizza recommendations. Hopefully there's a real NY style joint in town.

But even with a minor shellfish allergy, I've never gone hungry around southern Louisiana. From LaRose to Lafayette, some of the best for I've ever had.

I forgot how bad traffic is in baton rouge. It's really bad here in Denver. It wasn't that bad in New Orleans. But I lived Orleans parish and worked in Metairie, so I was always against the flow.

Lafayette traffic is pretty shitty and Lafayette has some of the most stupid drivers Ive ever encountered. Not to mention the the horrible design of the road system. Traffic surely isnt a selling point of Lafayette.

Now the MMA scene.....

Sounds like me a few years ago and a few years younger.

Blue moon, artmosphere, tap room, ruffinos, social.

Artmosphere was kind of my go to spot. Great music, pretty good beer, nice patio and good location.

Avoid downtown. If you have to go go to jefferson street pub or legends, but that's all I'd do down there.

I am a native but I don't live there any longer. Moved about 2 years ago.

Not sure what singles scene is like for that age since I've been with the same girl since I was 20. Go to Scandals if you want cougars, lots of college aged girls as well. That's all I know.

JSP has very good burgers, mayne. I'd definitely recommend that spot. Tap Room has apparently changed and is nowhere near as cool as it used to be. Depending on where he's going to live, there are two Corner Bar locations.

French Press
Bread and Circus Provisions
Charley G's
Social
Blue Dog
Jolie's

You can get great food at all of those, most of them have a Cajun flare. I don't remember if Social does. Charley G's has the best duck and andouille gumbo of all time.

As far as sushi, they're kind of holes in the wall but Fuji and Oishi are my favorite places.

Pizza -- Pizza Village and Deano's for sure. I like Mellow Mushroom too. The Cajun Spice pizza at Romacelli is my shite too.

Breakfast - The French Press -- Cajun benedict dawg. Also, Sweet Baby Breesus and the Chicken and Waffles

Mexican - Mayas Restaurant, another hole in the wall but it's the shite. Agave for atmosphere, the food is pretty decent. El Potrillo on the Northside is good and cheap too.

Po-boys - Olde Tyme Grocery is a staple. I like The Villager's po boys in Maurice, they have the best fried oyster po boys IMO. Julien's and Chris' are pretty good too but Olde Tyme and Villager are my top two.

Try out Johnson's Boucaniere on St. John street, I fricking lvoe that place. They have a lot of smoked meats, homemade boudin as well. Their pulled pork is awesome. They do a sauce piquante on Thursdays too I believe that's tasty.

I'd also suggest going to Joey's across from Cajun Field for a tasso sandwich.

Dessert - Indulge for sure. Creme brulee and tres leches cakes are en fuego.

There's so much more that I just can't remember right now but I personally guarantee all of my suggestions.

but as far as entertainment icegator (minor league hockey team) games, ULL basketball or baseball, rhythms on the river, downtown alive are all good

bar wise taproom, happys, legends, corner bar

I prefer to stay away from reds bc of the number of douches...I drooped reds for le triomphe and oakbourne but golf was a big part of that

Lafayette is great. I've been here a little over two years now. Lots of culture. The people here are genuinely proud of their city and want to make it better.

I moved here from New Orleans so adjusting to the smaller music scene was kind of tough. Obviously there will be mostly cajun/zydeco but you can find some other stuff. Blue moon and Artmosphere have the best bands regularly. Every now and then The District, Jefferson Street Pub, or the Cajundome will have a good show.

I really love the crowd at blue moon. Its always a great mix of people old & young. Its not like going to some bars where everyone is the same age and dressed exactly alike.

In my opinion, The Tap Room sucks. There is always a terrible cover band playing way too loud with bad acoustics.

Ruffino's and Social are both cool spots with great food. French Press downtown also has really good food.

I live near downtown and love it. Its near the best bars and I can walk to Festival International and other downtown events (Artwalk, Downtown Alive, etc.)

You should join Acadiana Sports Leagues when you move here. You will meet a lot of people that way. Co-Ed Kickball is the most fun in my opinion.

Lets be honest. It's a pretty accurate statement and not really a hyperbole at all.

No, it's not accurate at all. MOST Cajuns fans are also fans of LSU. There's like 5% of the people who hate LSU and a large portion who are apathetic. People see one car with an Alabama sticker on it and assume that everyone here loves Alabama.
