Not very familiar with the area. Looking for some advice.

1. What are the best school districts in the Columbia/Lexington area?
2. What are the best neighborhoods in the Columbia/Lexington area?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

The Carolinas are really nice....clean, progeressive, and growing, with lots of good jobs. I almost moved to Greenville area last year and had no reservations whatsoever.
Good Luck

Since you're on the OT I'm going to assume you're filthy rich. Hammond School. Only about $18,000/year

progressive, depending on the meaning, is not a selling point.

I'd stay more on the North Eastside. Wildewood is a great neighborhood, but Blythwood is probably the safest and nicest area in Columbia.

Pretty sure he didn't mean progressive as in SJW/liberal. Maybe in Columbia around the University, but otherwise SC is as red as a baboon's arse.

Lexington is a better area than Columbia, I live in Irmo, which is a pretty good area. Just be sure to avoid buying a house that is zoned for Richland School District 1 or 2. Lexington schools are much better, most of Irmo is zoned for Lexington 5

Anything in Lexington/Richland 5

The public schools in SC are more than good enough to where you don't need to go private.

Lexington District One is also a really nice area. One of the Gamecock assistants sends his kid to Lexington One schools.

That's the goal. Wife went to public school in SC and is very much opposed to paying the crazy private school prices.

The Spring Valley area is nice. My Aunt and Uncle live in Wildewood and my cousin went to Spring Valley High School. Blythewood is also a nice area. Columbia proper isn't much different than Baton Rouge. Capital city, large university presence and lots of culcha.

I was never a fan of northeast Columbia. I felt like Hardscrabble Rd was a regular on Live PD.

I would look at your commute and decide where to live. Trust me, you do NOT want to be driving west on I26 after work every day.

We went to a family gathering at Woodcreek Farms and it was very nice. Wildewood has always been really nice. And now there are enough restaurants and bars around the Sandhills area where you don't have to go downtown to drink. And the I-77 exit is right down the road, so you're a straight shot to Williams-Brice for a football game. And there's still a rural aspect of NE Cola that is long gone in Lexington. 5 minutes past the Pontiac exit on I-20 and you're in rural Kershaw County.

Shandon, Forest Acres, and Elmwood are good neighborhoods in the city if you can afford it. Otherwise do not live in Columbia.

Technically Forest Acres is it’s own city, but it’s surrounded by Columbia.

I live in forest acres, but no kids so can’t comment on the schools, although most people seem to like AC Flora.
