I can only offer anecdotal evidence, but my parents moved the family in the middle of my sister's Junior year.

She has since been married 3 times before she turned 35. Take that fwiw.

I might figure out a way for my daughter to finish school there, assuming that is what she wants. Either family or friends, or something.

You should do everything you can to have your daughter finish her senior year where she is now. It's absolutely fricked up to move her senior year, not even just from the social aspect. It could be a huge mental, emotional, and academic frick up, no matter if she "adjusts". Those on here saying she will adjust don't know your daughter.

I say this as someone who went to 7 different schools as a kid. Although I turned out fine, I wish I never had to change schools so much.

Father was a pilot.
Military.

My sister still rants and whines about being in x number of schools.

You can't stay behind in an apartment to let her finish it out while wife goes ahead?

My company is in Dallas and just announced that all management must be in Dallas by end of year. I have some friends dealing with the exact same thing.

Most have decided to rent an apartment and commute while the wife and kids stay back at the house until next summer.

Its far from ideal, but its only 9 months and between them coming down and you going back you will get to see them enough to be satisfied.

BTW if you're with State Farm and moving to that new campus in Richardson, its unreal.

Just found out we are very likely moving before our youngest finishes high school. My wife's job is being moved to Dallas or Phoenix. We are pretty tore up for our daughter. It is gonna be tough on her.

Anyone else been through this?

Dad transferred to Jacksonville from Monroe, LA my senior year. He left me and Mom and got corporate housing. Worked out bc he didn't like move and only did it a few months.

I was socially awkward and was ready to rebrand myself and pick up Florida slots so I was somewhat side. Was going to finish football and graduate early go to Jacksonville College for a semester

She'll survive.

High school's actual importance in life is roughly 1/10th of what you think it is when you're 18

Is your daughter popular? Very active in school activities?

My in-laws had a similar situation and they did the rent house thing. Sold their home, MIL moved into an apartment with daughter who was a senior in High school, FIL moved into a rent house in new city. I wouldn't have done that though, my SIL wasn't very involved in school and rarely even hung out with friends or anything.

High school isn't important, chances are that your kid is moving to a new city for college anyway.

I'd say less, unless you peak in high school.

I mean, isn't that exactly what being a parent is? Your child's needs come before your own.

It doesn't make you a pussy to consider not ripping your kid out of high school in their last year. Starting over senior year just to start over the next year can be hard on a 17 or 18 year old.

Imagine having formed relationships with friends for your entire life, looking forward to your last year in HS together (Homecoming, Prom, Spring Break, Graduation) and that gets blown up midway through. She will resent the Hell out of it.
