At anyone thinking Austin is one of the 10 most affordable places to live in the US.

Raleigh isn't particularly cheap either.

you legit have more of a chance of being shot in new orleans than you do of getting attacked by a grizzly in montana

I did some quick research and here is what I found:

quote:

The odds of being attacked by a bear at Yellowstone National Park is 1 in 2.1 million.

Bear Attach Stats - Yellowstone

Granted, this is just the National Park so add another one or two.

NOLA Population in 2021 is supposedly 383,551

NOLA Shootings in 2021 were 207 (52 Fatal, 155 Non-Fatal)

***EDIT - MISTAKE. THE ABOVE ARE NUMBERS FROM APRIL 2021 SO BELOW ODDS OF GETTING SHOT ARE MUCH HIGHER.

WDSU

Check my math.....

Convert NOLA population to 2.1 million (to coincide with the 2.1m figure used to get the Bear Attack Odds). That would be a multiplier of 5.48 (383,551 x 5.48 = 2.1m).

Now multiply the NOLA shootings by 5.48 and that gives you 1133. Your odds of getting shot in NOLA are 1000 times greater than being attacked by a grizzly bear in Yellowstone.

I'm tired of this dirty old city
And tired of too much work
And never enough play
And I'm tired of these dirty old sidewalks
Think I'll walk off my steady job today
Turn me loose, set me free
Somewhere in the middle of Montana
And give me all I've got coming to me
And keep your retirement
And your so-called Social Security
Big city turn me loose and set me free

Nola had a lot more than 52 murders in 2021.

Well crap. I googled "New Orleans Shootings 2021" and that WDSU story came up. Just went back and saw it was written in April 2021.

My bad....

Kalispell averages 50" of snow, which is not a lot for that latitude. Average highs in Dec are around freezing, lows mid teens. You'll have a warmer winter there than much of the Midwest.

I dont doubt those stats but 50” of snow and high temps of the days at freezing are why my dad moved us to AZ as kids.

My niece and her husband just up and moved to Bozeman with no job back in July. I saw them over Christmas. They love it and are now gainfully employed. She's a speech therapist and he's an attorney. I told them I admired the decision and was jealous.

Learn to make the essentials: red beans, jambalaya, gumbo, etoufee. They all cook very similar, the real difference is the liquid you use.
