Clown
When I go to a Mardi gras ball I wear a tux and beads
When I go on guided hunts, I still wear camouflage and rubber boots
When I go to a wedding, church, or business meetings I wear a suit.

My close family owned sale barns my whole youth. I've worked cattle and rides horses my whole life. Never rode in competition
I've been to the NFR over 10 times since turning 18.

So yeah, if I go to Houston, I'll dress to fit the part...even though I dont dress "cowboy or western" in my now city s Louisiana life.

Again, tell us how a guy in boots easily banged your lady

Take a walk around the cookoff and tell some of those pit masters they are “fake cowboys”

I grew up in suburban Texas and always thought the abundance of cowboy boots was kitschy.

all of the city slickers, who have never stepped foot in the outdoors besides having a cocktail on a patio, dusts off their finest cowboy and cowgirl costumes and cosplay as true cowboys for the next three weeks. Hats, vest, boots, leather fringe, turquoise jewelry, pearl snaps as far as the eye can see.

I'm personally offended by this post.

Honestly, what could they wear that works for you personally?

Secondly, what did you actually expect?

My first concert was Garth Brooks at the Houston Rodeo and Livestock Show in the early 90's. I own over 100 acres and 30 head of cattle. I have some killer western clothing, but for the most part I wear a polo and jeans to work 5 days a week.

If I go to a rodeo, any rodeo, you can bet your arse I'll be gussied up.

I guess in your world I'm a poser because I'm checking or working cows in a polo and fleece northface when it actually counts.

Yeah sure. That’s a whole lotta compensating to explain why you like to LARP as a cowboy. And…”guided hunts”…now we know you wear panties under your camo

No, you idiot. It’s called rodeo season and it starts in February and goes through March. San Antonio has their rodeo, then Fort Worth, and finally Houston. It has nothing to do with recreating Mardi Gras. So dumb

My former employer had an RV with Stabbin Cabin written on both sides and would park next to the Astrodome itself for the rodeo. Oil/Chemical and Emergency Response sort of company. I was in the industrial division. If you were with a major company and had authority to award contracts, you got an invite to their private suite for one showing of the rodeo. Industrial division had some contracts with Shell Chemical as well as Refining in LA, I got to go to one event in 2001 with a few Shell guys, freaking Barry Manilow was the entertainer. The wives loved it. Rather dull if you ask me.

The vast majority don't even think about Mardi Gras at all.

The wine garden at the rodeo is some of the best times to be had.

If you don’t want to see the females at the Houston rodeo you are gay. It’s that simple.

Do people have to earn the right to wear cowboy boots? It's a fashion choice. We're not talking stolen valor here.

what would you like them to wear to a rodeo? Suit? Coat and tails? Crocs, socks, and some baggy shorts?

Its a RODEO. Hats, Jeans, boots seem like a good fit. Even if the person wearing them lives in the museum district or Kingwood. You're as dumb as the people who get pissed cause someone wearing an LSU shirt may not have actually gone to LSU.
