How old are these kids. Sounds like you're raising some cry babies imo.

Eta: if you have to lay down with the kids, you're doing something wrong. Are there any belts in your home?

Agreed. "We have to lay down with them so they'll go to sleep." Oh, Lordy! Those kids are in charge!

Well my MIL put a hotdog bun in the microwave today and set the time for 20 minutes. We figured it out when it caught on fire and smoked up half the house.

I never lnew something could smell so bad.

No pics, but she could afford to loose a few lbs.

So today, gets up at 10 back in bed at 12 20 for a nap. So glad she came to see the kids.

My MIL hops in the recliner and tells me to fix her some coffee when she visits. She then takes verbal jabs at me throughout the visit. I'm respectful of my elders and have never confronted her. She doesn't visit very often because my wife knows how I feel about her and, instead, goes to visit her much more often. This is all 18 years in.

I love my MIL, she is honestly a really cool woman. That said, she can be a huge fricking count and when that happens, she is usually checked by me.

Once you are married, and especially when you're rearing children, the Mom and Dad dynamics need to die. You are equals, demand to be treated like one or tell her to get the frick out of your home.

It is far more inexcusable that you think anyone, including your kid, gives a flying frick about an eighth grade graduation.

Within the first few months of getting married I had to tell my MIL to STFU ("nicer" language of course). She can be very passive aggressive especially when she doesnt get her way and didnt like how we were doing things during the process of moving to a new apartment in a new city. I told her she could either help do it our way or leave. She pouted for a couple hours and then got with the program.

She's been fine ever since. Most MILs will only go as far as you let them.

How fricking long do you want your kids to nap? And why should she stick around to help during nap time? How is she going to help them sleep? Stop being a bitch.

So you have an invited guest over, and then you and your entire family shuts it down and goes nap together for 2 hours. She has to leave or remain silent that entire time. She leaves, and when she returns 2 hours later, you bitch because she's making too much noise?

And you wonder why she only comes visit a few times a year? You sound like a miserable son in law and are lucky she ever comes visit.

So you were raised in an environment where blatant disrespect is honored because of age?

It's not healthy, especially when your children bear witness.
