If you go on national TV with an interpreter, you'll surely speak to many Afghanis.

Counter argument would be that Saddaam was the worst of the worst. Worse than all the others. If you count the Iran-Iraq war Saddaam killed more than ISIS could ever dream to. He just didn't brag about it on twitter. Not to mention all the Shiites and Kurds he gassed.

Difference between Saddaam and all the other despots was that he showed an actual willingness to invade other countries. Not sure he could be called stabilizing.

In particular, Iraq was a counterbalance and buffer to Iran. No coincidence they're feeling their oats now. Saddam was an evil guy, and had delusions of ruling a significant part of the mideast. But so do several other tyrants over there we've learned to tolerate, and in some cases actively work with.

We haven’t fought a war worth the price since 1812.

Granted, your average vet knows more about national strategy than your average citizen, but I would much prefer to trust civilians in government (and High Command) that have done the research and know the history of those areas.

You do realize some of us in this very forum have worked at the Pentagon and/or COCOM level right?

Interesting book on Afghanistan-Charlie Wilson’s War.
First Gulf War was big scam,Iraq and Kuwait had been squabbling for years over the boundary line,Saddam felt like Kuwait was stealing his oil so he invaded.Perfect opportunity for Bush 41 to distract the country from the Silverado Savings and Loan scandal and his son Neil’s involvement.Cost us millions for the bailout.
The Bushes are just as big as sleazebags as the Clinton’s,Guess that’s why they got to be such buddies.

We should meet at the nearest Sonic to discuss my free VA benefits I get after 2 tours to Iraq and 4 years of service to my country while serving in the Marine Corps.

I've read a lot of ignorant statements during my brief time on the OT, but yours takes the cake.

It’s essentially the premise of the thread title that we should value veterans’ opinions by considering them more valid because they are veterans.
You inferred that. It's not implied in the thread title that their opinions are any more valuable. It's just data. Different groups are polled all the time on a variety of issues.

Furthermore, it says that veterans say the wars "Not Worth the Cost". You seem to be assuming that they're only referring to monetary or strategic costs. A lot of vets have more personal criteria that fit into their definition of cost and they are fully qualified to form opinions on those costs.

I missed this. Are you under the impression that every vet leaves the military with "free" VA comp?

What da FUK are you talking through your arse about. Do you know ANYTHING about being in the military?

Maybe even an office boy for some 2nd Lt?

Just STFU and go kill yourself, dick breath.
