Friends are Rah-Rah (the grandma) and Boom-Pa (grandpa). They chose those names, not a kid.

My son called my dad Sport.

Before my boy could talk my dad would say “Whats up, Sport?” upon seeing him. So when my son first started talking he would yell “Sport!!” whenever he saw my dad. It stuck and he called Dad that for 24 years.

Opp for a grandfather I know. My ex MiL is Galey (pronounced Gay-lee), but for a short time, when the grandson was two or so and she was trying to teach him to call her Galey, he started calling her Gaynut. I prayed that would stick, but it didn’t.

My niece's grandmother on their mother's side, wanted to be called "Grandmother". Well, Grandmother came out "Mundar" on the first grandkid, she is Mundar to this day to every grandchild she has.
Love it.
