List is suspect. Accounting didn’t make the regret side

I started out in electrical engineering. The curriculum was fine but I went to work in the plants during the summer to get some real world experience. I changed majors shortly after that. That wasn't for me.

It's because they all thought they'd be the one to shine the light. When they realized that their opinions are a dime a dozen they regretted it...

The gf is an EE by her first degree. She loved her real world work, but bolted quick from the industry. It is a dead end for (most) EE's.

In many ways it's kind of dumb that we choose what we want to do with our lives at 18-19 yrs old when we have no idea what the real world is about. I know some people have known what they want to do their whole lives but most of us had no idea I think.

Her field is adjacent these days, but her industrial background is paving the way right now.
No doubt, like you I bailed out of CE after an internship when I was 20.
Always wondered how to treat that decision when it comes to my kid. The gap year seems like a great thing in reality.

Our youngest is a sophomore in HS so I guess we'll see how it goes for her. I can probably give her some guidance since we have a similar personality but everyone is different.

Certainly agree with Number 1 regret-free, SE has been good even in the down years.
Though the SO would strongly disagree with #4 least regretted lol

I don’t regret my communications degree or general studies. Taking a comm degree as a business student got me into a university faster. General studies allowed me to bypass foreign language and other requirements that got me to grad school.
In grad school I studied Econ, the only bad part was being provisional until catching up with Econ classes. I did this on GI Bill as a non-traditional, so it didn’t bother me. I also ended up getting an associates for business a few years after when the community college did an audit.
My regret was going , but I got paid to go , so it wasn’t too bad. The whole idea everyone needs to go to school is bs IMO and a lot of ppl shouldn’t go. End of the day you’re going paying for a piece of paper to get you to next step.

RN for several years and then went to anesthesia school. Good pay and lots of vacation time. Demand for CRNA’s right now is insane. No ragerts here.

Journalism is dead. No wonder it’s the most regretted degree.
The death as a career came from the fact most people haven't paid for news in the last ~20 years outside of what goes to cable news channels from their cable or streaming package. I suppose local TV news still sells ads but newspapers are dead and they were by far the largest employers of J-school grads. The online papers and other sites work on speed and click bait that a different sort of person is more equipped to write.

I graduated with a double major in biology and entomology. I don't regret it but it did require a master's degree for a competitive salary.
