If you're really uncoordinated, put 3 at a time in the microwave for 3 seconds.
the water in the shell gets vaporized, they dont actually warm up, but the expansion of the gas pops the shell and helps while youre learning to get fast.

Picked up a mini-sack this past weekend. Damn seafood dealers don't handle full sacks any more and charge the same price for that small sack as they once did for a 100 lb. sack with 20-22 dozen in it.
The mini-sack had 9 dozen oysters in it and they were all singles and a bit smaller than the size of ones used at oyster bars. They were fat but not salty, so I fried just about all of them. I paid just over 45 for the mini-sack from Schaefer's in Bucktown.
I could easily eat 3-4 dozen when opening a real sack of oysters back in the day and then eat them fried when done.

Last Tuesday at Roux 61, I ate 3 dozen. Could have eaten more but no need to be a glutton. 50 cents each on Tuesdays. Excellent quality.

Around half a sack. You can go through them quick if you're a good shucker. I don't eat crackers with my oysters.

I've never really gotten full from oysters alone. That said, I have eaten 4 dozen in a sitting with small oysters. I also got kinda full once just eating 2 dozen when I was eating other stuff on the side. If I had average sized oysters, I guess I could eat around 6 dozen, or half a dozen dozen.
