Has anyone here ever driven 287 North from Wichita Falls to Amarillo and through the panhandle? You pass through so many random small towns.

Vernon
Quanah
Childress
Memphis
Clarendon
Adrian
Wildorado
Vega

Shamrock, TX also has Ramone's House of Body Art, also known as U-Drop-Inn Cafe

I take that 287 drive each year. I always try to pull off in some of those towns to go into an antique shop or something like that.

shite...pre 9-11

Used to get shitfaced out there every weekend until the border security tightened up. Now add the heightened cartel nonsense and its not even worth the trouble.

i've been to every one of those.

i grew up in Wall, TX and played sports all over West Texas and my current job involves working with school districts all over the state of every size. Driven every inch of i35 N-S and 10 E-W.

i'll throw out some other fun ones

Winters - Mascot is the Blizzards
Crane - Golden Cranes
Mason - Cow Punchers, nice town
Hamlin - Pied Pipers, Art Briles coached here before he became a big deal in the 80s
Robstown - Cotton Pickers
Bronte - Maroon Longhorns

Van Horn - I submit for the worst and ugliest town in Texas
Crystal City - city council was recently arrested on corruption charges
Rio Grande City - I was told i wasn't welcome in a restaurant
Marlin - I'm pretty sure they still practice Jim Crow law here
Corsicana - Nice sounding city... highest crime rates in the state
Melvin - actual center of the state.

Can’t forget Texline.

Also:

Robstown - maybe the armpit of the state. High school mascot is the Cotton Pickers.
