New Orleans. Great place to spend a weekend, but it would be absolutely miserable living there.

Stayed there 6 weeks once for a job. It was amazing.

Insane demand for housing disagrees with you.

shite nightlife

Not into hordes of hot asian women, I take it? But yeah, it's not a douchey club scene town. Plenty of bars, and some cool bars that I stumbled into that had a ton of really good looking womenz. One was real "classy" almost like it was meant to replicate a speakeasy. I mean, I'm not sure what all you're looking for to make your life complete. San Fran is not a shallow town. They have a lot of people with money and nothing to prove. If anything they're trying to prove that they have nothing to prove which I agree is semi annoying. Still less annoying than just about anyone who goes clubbing. You can always go to Oakland or Sac for some fauxhawk fist pumping.

no one gives a shite what they look like at all.

God forbid.

Also, it's about as expensive as NYC, which is mind-boggling.

Because it's so shitty that a bunch of people want to live there. :roll eyes:

The BART is so nasty

Because public transportation in Southern cities are known for their cleanliness.

Now, am I saying SF is utopia? frick no. I am certainly not trying to live there but it has a lot going for it and the people there kind of impressed me. The innovative spirit and success in the bay area is amazing. That's my main reason for liking it. I'd probably prefer living in Sacramento/Folsom.

Meh, the lady scene is very disappointing in San Francisco. I've never seen hordes of hot women except for a bunch of girls who were in town for a bachelorette party. The insane housing market is due to the new dot-com bubble (ie jobs), though the Bay Area is beautiful in general. Anyone who thinks San Francisco is a shithole probably just had a bad experience on Turk and Leavenworth. As much as I love the city, I think a good bit of it is overrated. People wait in long-arse lines for merely decent things such as Bi-Rite ice cream or Tartine baked goods. In fact it seems that waiting in lines has become something of a hobby for many here.

Seconded. I'm always a little surprised that I don't have to show my passport to enter Texas.

To the people that said Los Angeles, you didn't go to the right places. There are parts that blow for sure.

But today it was 78 and we went on a 5 mile bike ride to Hermosa Beach and went swimming, saw a sea lion then played 3 hours of 3 on 3 beach volleyball. Then rode bikes to Redondo Beach to watch a reggae band.

If that is a horrible place to be then I disagree.

The city of LA is fine, but I do love the beach cities (Hermosa and Manhattan beaches, for example).

miami would be my choice. although to be fair, I've only been once, and it was with my wife. the whole time i was there i was thinking that this place would be a lot better minus my wife and with a couple of buddies. but really the city doesn't offer anything more than shopping, sunbathing and nightlife, which i can do in Vegas, and have gambling as well.

Gotta agree on Austin. While it has some good bars, it's crowded, the music is subpar compared to Nashville, and everyone there is trying so hard to be different and trendy that they become unsufferable elitist pieces of shite. This blog nicely sums it up:

Hill Country on the other hand is perfect, laid back, good people, good riding, and tons of breweries and restaurants to go to.
